Why does New Outlook repeatedly ask for an app-specific password?

I’m using New Outlook. The first time I used it, it required me to create an app-specific password to access emails in my iCloud account. After I was able to access my emails, I turned off my computer. When I went back next time to access my emails, it told me again that I needed to create an app-specific password, which I did. After using it that way for a while, now it’s asking me a third time to create an app-specific password. Why is it not retaining the app-specific password?

    Dear Douglas Goldstone,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Based on your description, I understand that you have a query "Why does New Outlook repeatedly ask for an app-specific password?" To change the default behavior of the scroll button in Outlook.

The issue you are experiencing with New Outlook repeatedly asking for an app-specific password may be due to a few reasons. One possible reason is that your iCloud account may have security settings that require app-specific passwords to be changed frequently. Another possible reason is that there may be a problem with the way New Outlook is storing your app-specific password.

To resolve this issue, have you tried the following steps?

    1. Check your iCloud account security settings to see if there are any requirements for changing app-specific passwords frequently.
    2. Try resetting your app-specific password and see if that resolves the issue.
    3. If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling New Outlook to see if that resolves the issue.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may need to contact Microsoft support for further assistance.
