Why am I suddenly receiving spam calendar invitations/appointments in Outlook (Microsoft 365 Family).

@Microsoft needs to fix this. This is a vulnerability issue with YOUR product that anyone can post a calendar item to my (our) calendar with literally NO verification from the calendar owner - ME! I delete these things constantly now and sometimes within minutes another one is posted to my calendar. This is an issue with Microsoft Outlook 365, NOT a user issue. I'm tired of paying for this only to be abused by malicious actors and indifference by Microsoft. I happen to work for a large Microsoft partner and it is mind boggling how little Microsoft seems to care about issues with your products. Why am I paying for this??? Fix the problem with your product! How do you expect me to recommend MSFT products when I, as a paying customer, can't get a resolution or even much attention to a simple issue like this?

If you like trying to solve problems... any idea how to actually BLOCK some of the hundreds of spam emails that are coming in daily? I had lots of rules to block them. I'm talking 943 rules to block them! Other rules to approve my most regular emails. Ran out of allotted space to make more rules! That didn't work.

I've tried blocking what I think a few of the IP address are. That didn't stop them. I've tried to block them by reporting them, by making rules for various keywords in the phishing / spam emails, sent several emails to tech support, no responses.

I've deleted hundreds of the rules I and set up some new rules. At least now 80% of my wanted emails are going to my inbox. I still have to search the other folders to make sure I don't miss something important.

I REALLY hate having to spend hours per day searching through my Junk and Deleted folders looking for email that should not have been sent there in the first place. It is very frustrating. I have been doing this for 9 weeks now, I start to zone out as I search those folders, thinking about how angry I am about the lack help from MS, that I realize, I'm not actually paying attention to the emails that I am looking at, and have to start over in the folder. Ugh.

Others have been complaining about the random influx of massive amounts of phishing and spam emails for over 2 years! But still there is not a solid solution to actually block these emails. I don't want them in my junk or deleted folder. I don't want them in any folder of my email. Apparently "Block" means something very different to me than it does to Microsoft. What's up with that???????

My previous solution works. Uninstall Outlook Email and Calendar. Use an alternative, e.g. GMail. Problem solved.

Here’s how I got rid of it so instead of filtering it on hotmail because it doesn’t work find the email in your junk that matches your spam invite and block directly from your iphone so if the email is “ (your membership has expired)” example

1. click on the email
2. then click on From which is the email address of sender,

3,. do not click on links in the email,

4 block the sender from iPhone like you would a caller

5. The event will disappear.

This is not happening in any others yet like yahoo gmail ect but as far as hotmail it’s not gonna block it. The rules just don’t work as they should and these clowns use 5000000 emails to spam us, I’ve tried to block IP addresses that doesn’t even solve it is just more work for me. Hope I helped someone

Edit Make sure you delete the message after you block that is a key point that I forgot to mention. Got 1 this morning

Yeah, unfortunately I use Calendar daily to keep track of appointments. These things are a real nuisance! I wish they would give us the option to opt out of external invitations just getting out on our calendar from non-contacts, and the ability to delete them without “declining” them, which just reinforces the behavior. And, I don’t have the slightest interest in switching to a Gmail product.
