Hi! I just figured this out right now and wanted to share it with all of you as I was frustrated to say the least. Open your Outlook and at the top click on View next to Home. Once that opens there is an option called Folder pane. When you click on that it will give you a list, click on Sort Folders then click Order folders A to Z.

THANK YOU! Finally something that worked!

    Hi, Priya2024

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist you.

According to your description, to sort your subfolders in alphabetical order in the new Outlook for Windows, would you like to try following steps and see if it can make any differences:

    1. Open Outlook and go to your mailbox folder list.
    2. Right-click on the parent folder that contains the subfolders you want to sort.
    3. Select "Sort Subfolders A-Z" from the context menu.
    4. Your subfolders will now be sorted in alphabetical order.

If you want to sort them in reverse alphabetical order, you can select "Sort Subfolders Z-A" instead.

Thanks for your attempts and looking forward to your new updates.

    Hope you all the best!

    Hi there,

I have the same issue with folders not being sorted alphabetically anymore in the new version but when I right click on the parent folder I do not have the 'Sort Subfolders A-Z' option. Please advise. Many thanks.

    Clive

The option is not obvious in the New Outlook.

    1. Navigate to View > Folder Pane and select the dropdown selection.
    2. Then select the Sort Folder option.
    3. Make your selection as desired. a. The default option is to sort by Custom folder order (Date created). b. The alternative sort order is Order folders A to Z for alphabetical sorting.
