Unable to send emails to Yahoo accounts

Starting a couple of days ago, I am unable to send emails to Yahoo accounts from my Outlook email. Here is the error message I receive:

Your message wasn't delivered. Despite repeated attempts to deliver your message, a connection to the remote server was closed abruptly.

Contact the recipient by some other means (by phone, for example) and ask them to tell their email admin that it appears that your email system is unable to connecto their email system. Give them the error details shown below. It's likely that the recipient's email admin is the only one who can fix this problem.

For Email Admins
This often indicates the recipient's firewall SMTP fixup setting or other firewall settings are preventing the SMTP protocol negotiation from succeeding.

For more information and tips to fix this issue see this article: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=389361.

I went to the link suggested, and did not understand the instructions. Please assist. Thank you.

    FYI

I'm seeing 3 IP addresses in that range (67.195.228.*) from my custom domain to Yahoo that gets deferred. They're successfully delivered in less than 1 hour. It should be instant delivery. Something is going on between Microsoft and Yahoo SMTP servers. I have all 3 DNS records setup since 2019 and never had any issues since then.

Here's one of the 3 outgoing email from my company domain (hosted on MS 365)

    Reason: [{LED=450 4.4.318 Connection was closed abruptly (SuspiciousRemoteServerError)};{MSG=};{FQDN=mta5.am0.yahoodns.net};{IP=67.195.228.94};{LRT=3/11/2024 10:19:35 PM}]. OutboundProxyTargetIP: 67.195.228.94. OutboundProxyTargetHostName: mta5.am0.yahoodns.net

We talked to Microsoft support and we had the DKIM entries in the DNS, but it was not enabled in Office365.

First check your DNS and make sure that you have two CNAME records:

    selector1._domainkey Points to value: selector1-yourdomainname-com._domainkey.yourdomainname.onmicrosoft.com

    selector2._domainkey Points to value: selector2-yourdomainnamecom._domainkey.LoneStarStripes.onmicrosoft.com

(replace yourdomainname with your actual domain name)

    Then go into Office365.

    Select Admin.

    Select All admin centers

    Select Security

    Select Policies & rules

    Select Threat policies

    Select Email authentication settings

    Select DKIM

    Click on your domain name

click the slider from Disabled to Enable.

If this gives you a client Error it will actually give you the exact CNAMES to put into your DNS.

    Select OK.

Give the DNS records some time to propagate and try turning the slider to Enable.

Once it is enabled and can see the new CNAMES it will stay on Enabled.

    Select close.

I had the problem on a 29-member mail list. Yes started March 8. Yahoo, and also AOL, and all ATT-"subsidiaries", e.g. sbcglobal. Everyone received and replied to my email Wednesday and Thursday, but Friday I received no responses from aol, Yahoo and Att group.

A colleague said the common link is ATT, who are trying to kill off tens of millions of unused email accounts. But this doesn't help me in the interim. Will I ever be able to email these guys as a group? I'd just like to get this resolved.

    Any help will be valuable.

You seem to misunderstand my post. I got my DKIM records created back in 2019 along with SPF and DMARC. I've never had any problem emailing anyone at yahoo. It is only this week or yesterday Yahoo started deferring my email to them. No changes on my end.

Did you try cycling the DKIM record?
