I am trying the New Outlook. I used to be able to sort my inbox by column (FROM) and then type in a letter and quickly get to all emails from people starting with that letter. For me that was a quick way to navigate my emails. It does not seem to work like that now. Is there a setting that I am missing or did Microsoft take that out in the new version? I understand that the search bar can be used and filters can be used, but I want the one letter search functionality that I have been using.

Does anyone know if there has been any progress on this? The lack of this feature is creating annoyance and making me want to go away from this platform.
I was just updated at work to Window's 11 and new Outlook. In first 5 mins I go to sort for emails from a person - and it doesn't sort. I used this 100 of times a day. It seems strange this functionality has been missed in the NEW Outlook - but even stranger it hasn't been fixed by now.
Is there a date when it will be fixed.
I'll try and revert to "OLD" Outlook while I wait......
It has been a while since the question was posted and no solution/patch has been provided. Can the solution be implemented soon?

Same here, just started using New Outlook yesterday as my organisation has updated our systems. It's really annoying that this feature is not available. New Outlook definitely feels like a downgrade so far compared to Outlook 2016 which I was using previously.
