I am trying the New Outlook. I used to be able to sort my inbox by column (FROM) and then type in a letter and quickly get to all emails from people starting with that letter. For me that was a quick way to navigate my emails. It does not seem to work like that now. Is there a setting that I am missing or did Microsoft take that out in the new version? I understand that the search bar can be used and filters can be used, but I want the one letter search functionality that I have been using.

Exactly...I am trying it again and this feature is important to me. I am going to switch back until this is complete...Microsoft, Microsoft, Microsoft.
great point -- I'm switching back too and providing feedback as to why. They pop up a box to ask why so hopefully they will care about adding this feature if we stop using New Outlook.
This is a fundamental function of managing my inbox, being able to quickly identify emails from a sender. this isn't a 'new' feature.
Is there any plan to reinstate this across the new outlook?
I wouldn't hold my breath, the amount of useful features in old/classic outlook that are not in the new/garbage outlook is beyond a joke. Got to laugh that people are getting paid to create this junk
Yep - I tried the new Outlook for a month now, but the whole inability to maintain selection when sorting by column + cannot jump to the first item in the sorted list by a keystroke - those two missing "features" are driving me nuts.
Switching back to old Outlook. Far better.
