I am trying the New Outlook. I used to be able to sort my inbox by column (FROM) and then type in a letter and quickly get to all emails from people starting with that letter. For me that was a quick way to navigate my emails. It does not seem to work like that now. Is there a setting that I am missing or did Microsoft take that out in the new version? I understand that the search bar can be used and filters can be used, but I want the one letter search functionality that I have been using.

Can we get a reply from a Microsoft product manager with some explanation why this feature isnt in by default and more importantly, if its on the roadmap?
My go to was sorting by name or subject and then type the first letters of either of them to quickly find my mails, the new search tool doesn't respect the sort done before using the search tool, it mixes mails again by date when delivering results. Why are you making things more difficult to use?
agreed. this one thing alone is a dealbreaker for me.
although, there is much to hate about the new outlook (right-click thesaurus/synonyms missing, story by size, drag message to calendar to create event missing, run all rules button, sync button)
this is a show stopper for me for using new outlook. until it is resolved, i can't continue exploring the idea to use it.
why is this feature still not in? Can someone from Microsoft explain a little bit why this is so complex and if this is going to be added yes or no? I need to decide if i want to wait or revert back to the old properly working Outlook.
