I am trying the New Outlook. I cant sort my inbox by typing a letter - am I missing a setting?

I am trying the New Outlook. I used to be able to sort my inbox by column (FROM) and then type in a letter and quickly get to all emails from people starting with that letter. For me that was a quick way to navigate my emails. It does not seem to work like that now. Is there a setting that I am missing or did Microsoft take that out in the new version? I understand that the search bar can be used and filters can be used, but I want the one letter search functionality that I have been using.

    So the ones developing the software are clearly not using Outlook themselves. This is the most basic function myself and so many of my colleagues use daily.

    Its been a year and this is still not fixed.... how many complaints do you need to register to return this vital feature. Scrolling through the inbox to find emails from people that names start with something further than B has been a nightmare. My next search will be how to go back to old outlook.

    Is anyone actually listening at Microsoft?

    I simply want to click the 'From' column to sort my emails by sender, like everything else (such as folders).

    It's just exhausting having to work with this software. I have no choice.
