I am trying the New Outlook. I cant sort my inbox by typing a letter - am I missing a setting?

I am trying the New Outlook. I used to be able to sort my inbox by column (FROM) and then type in a letter and quickly get to all emails from people starting with that letter. For me that was a quick way to navigate my emails. It does not seem to work like that now. Is there a setting that I am missing or did Microsoft take that out in the new version? I understand that the search bar can be used and filters can be used, but I want the one letter search functionality that I have been using.

    It's a year later and it still does not work. I don't think Microsoft gives a dame about it!

    From the looks of the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, it appears that MS is more concerned with adding Copilot features than they are about adding widely used functionality to bring the new Outlook to feature parity with the old version.

    In the old outlook I could just click an email from a sender and then filter by from and outlook would immediately jump to all emails by that sender. The new outlook wont do this.

    Also in the old outlook Once I selected Sort by From and then pressed the first few letters of a senders name it would sort the emails by the letters I typed. It no longer does this.

    I miss this feature too.
    Previously I was able to sort by name and then immediately start typing to get to the person I want. Now I'm forced to use the search box on the top ribbon or drag the slider down the alphabetical list.

    I'm surprised that this feature has been missed off given that predictive text is built into email writing.

    So the ones developing the software are clearly not using Outlook themselves. This is the most basic function myself and so many of my colleagues use daily.
