In the old Mail app I was able to add a custom background image. Since that app is going away I now have to use this version. the "modern" theme has a picture of a snow covered landscape. The options are that or nothing. There is no way to change the picture or add a picture of my choosing, even though the description says "Modern themes allow you to add a background image for further customization". How do I change this image, or add an image of my own?

If this is the case, could you guys at Microsoft at least the old background as an option? I really like it but now it's no longer there and I (as many others i've spoken to) do not like the look of the new one
I agree Denis. It is a change that I really don't like. I always had an image of my best friend and find uncomfortable not to have it anymore.
Hmmmf... Seems that you may add an image to the background, as long as it is one of the proposed image, not your own. Bummer.
It has been almost a year since the original inquiry. Has anyone found an option to update this yet?
I cant believe that it’s August and the problem still exists. I havent used my mail app on my laptop in so long because of this. They have 6 options now for Modern Themes, but they are all garbage. Why even give color choices or classic theme choices when it wont actually be displayed in the background? 0/10 for sure.
