How do I add a background picture to the "Modern" theme in the new outlook that replaces the older mail app?

In the old Mail app I was able to add a custom background image. Since that app is going away I now have to use this version. the "modern" theme has a picture of a snow covered landscape. The options are that or nothing. There is no way to change the picture or add a picture of my choosing, even though the description says "Modern themes allow you to add a background image for further customization". How do I change this image, or add an image of my own?

    Honestly I thought I was the only person who was annoyed by this change. I am so happy to see that I am not the only one. Yes please let's keep pushing this issue! I need control over something in my work life, and if all that is a a simple picture than so be it!

    So it is January and there seems to be no option to choose a custom image. Keepin' the thread alive! :)

    I would love to see your answer change to a yes option. It would be so nice to customize images in New Outlook. 💁
