In the old Mail app I was able to add a custom background image. Since that app is going away I now have to use this version. the "modern" theme has a picture of a snow covered landscape. The options are that or nothing. There is no way to change the picture or add a picture of my choosing, even though the description says "Modern themes allow you to add a background image for further customization". How do I change this image, or add an image of my own?

I can't even use the emoji in my email when sending outgoing letters. The icon is there, but's it's in shadow and I can't open it to add even a Bday emoji to anyone. I hate this Outlook mail.
cmon microsoft, time to step up your game. we already hate outlook, the least you can do is give us the customizable background option. do the right thing for once.
Either. I can't upload a personal image no matter where I look for the function. I also can't add any emojis toa email. The emoji icon is in the bar on the email page, but it is not lit up, so I can't tap on it to open it to pick an emoji. This email site sucks.
However, I can't find "Upload image" in Settings > General > Appearance. I only see dark mode, modern images, color, and classic backgrounds. But I can't see the "+" button. Do you mean on the website or app?
This is STILL an issue in Feb 2025. Not only can we not upload our own background photos, but the available ones also look like they are all AI generated. I do not need AI to generate a background for me - what a waste of resources. Please just let us upload our own photos and personalize the apps we use every day!
