This account is not supported in Outlook for Windows due to the license provided by your work or school

I'm not able to add my work 365 basic account in this new Outlook anymore. I get this error: "This account is not supported in Outlook for Windows due to the license provided by your work or school. Try to login with another account or go to Outlook on the web."

This is ridiculous that I'm able to add my personal Gmail, my personal Outlook email, but can't add my work account which my company pays money for. Now you want to charge us more by upgrading from basic to standard to able to use your new Outlook I see. I also noticed ads right in my Inbox in this new Outlook. Seriously? Ads too now? Well, it seems like you're very desperate lately dear Microsoft and using such enforcing brute tactics on us - users won't do good for you. It will have opposite effect in fact: Now I will tell my IT boss to switch to Google instead. And guess what? I won't be the only one doing this. You know what's your problem, Microsoft? You never listen and you never care about us. You just do what you want to do and it's all about squizzing money out of us while giving us worst products compared to other companies.

P.S. By the way, your new Outlook sucks and everything you give us lately sucks too.

Absolutely ridiculous. I am a small start up business - this move does not help me one bit. Thanks MS!!

Yes, this is ubsurd, We will roll back to old outlook and mail for the time being a hope you come to your senses. We do not need any "desktop Apps" we pay for those seperatly as full lisenced software when new versions are avilable. So if the new version of outlook is in fact a new version of outlook we should also be entilted to it.

The outlook app is a free app, we are paying for EMAIL HOSTING so let me use it.

I would just set it as an IMAP but its a shared account that we should be able to have access to.

we will be looking for alternatives

Same here. This, and this alone, will stop me from using Microsoft 365 altogether. I'm now looking for an alternative.

My paid Exchange accounts work, any of the level of subscription. From memory, I had to remove the account from my computer via control panel and add them again. That is what solved the problem for me. There a few behaviour things to get used to, but so far I like it.
