This account is not supported in Outlook for Windows due to the license provided by your work or school

I'm not able to add my work 365 basic account in this new Outlook anymore. I get this error: "This account is not supported in Outlook for Windows due to the license provided by your work or school. Try to login with another account or go to Outlook on the web."

This is ridiculous that I'm able to add my personal Gmail, my personal Outlook email, but can't add my work account which my company pays money for. Now you want to charge us more by upgrading from basic to standard to able to use your new Outlook I see. I also noticed ads right in my Inbox in this new Outlook. Seriously? Ads too now? Well, it seems like you're very desperate lately dear Microsoft and using such enforcing brute tactics on us - users won't do good for you. It will have opposite effect in fact: Now I will tell my IT boss to switch to Google instead. And guess what? I won't be the only one doing this. You know what's your problem, Microsoft? You never listen and you never care about us. You just do what you want to do and it's all about squizzing money out of us while giving us worst products compared to other companies.

P.S. By the way, your new Outlook sucks and everything you give us lately sucks too.

Well i did not realise that about Quora. Thanks for the insight and my apologise for posting that misinformation. However, the 2nd comment relating to Gmail was from the Microsoft site itself so i'm not sure how to take that now. The information i found was that yes, they used to be rivals but have been working together in several instances.

Since your comment i did a bit more searching using 2024 as a key and according to the Wall Street Journal, it does seem there's a black cloud over their 'cease-fire' once again. Please don't tell me that a source like WSJ is also utter rubbish

Stop spreading lies. Microsoft & Google are rivals, especially when it comes to search engine. Few months ago Microsoft CEO event testified against Google in court that there's no Internet but only Google, complaining that people aren't interested in his crappy Bing.

Lastly you should never use Quora as a source. This idiotic site should be burned to the ground once and for all!

Switching from Microsoft to Google? I honestly don't think they will care...

"In addition to cloud computing, Google and Microsoft have also collaborated on a number of other projects, including:

    • Bing: Google and Microsoft have a joint venture called Bing, which is a search engine that competes with Google Search.
    • Office 365: Google and Microsoft have a partnership that allows Google Apps users to access Office 365 documents.
    • Android: Google and Microsoft have worked together to develop Android, an operating system for mobile devices." ~ QUORA

    Another tid-bit...

"Your Gmail address is actually just an alias for your Microsoft account and not a real Google account"

Out of curiosity, i searched who owns Microsoft and now it explains everything!... The top 4 shareholders include Bill Gates, BlackRock and Vanguard, the 3 corporates who are sending the entire western civilisation into a downward spiral because of their greed and lust for absolute control over everything and everyone! The 4th is Steve Ballmer who i don't know too much about
