This account is not supported in Outlook for Windows due to the license provided by your work or school

I'm not able to add my work 365 basic account in this new Outlook anymore. I get this error: "This account is not supported in Outlook for Windows due to the license provided by your work or school. Try to login with another account or go to Outlook on the web."

This is ridiculous that I'm able to add my personal Gmail, my personal Outlook email, but can't add my work account which my company pays money for. Now you want to charge us more by upgrading from basic to standard to able to use your new Outlook I see. I also noticed ads right in my Inbox in this new Outlook. Seriously? Ads too now? Well, it seems like you're very desperate lately dear Microsoft and using such enforcing brute tactics on us - users won't do good for you. It will have opposite effect in fact: Now I will tell my IT boss to switch to Google instead. And guess what? I won't be the only one doing this. You know what's your problem, Microsoft? You never listen and you never care about us. You just do what you want to do and it's all about squizzing money out of us while giving us worst products compared to other companies.

P.S. By the way, your new Outlook sucks and everything you give us lately sucks too.

Absolutely weird, and nonsense if you ask me.

If I buy a Microsoft Office 365 Personal Licence (In my case), and then I say I want to try the new Outlook and it's not connecting to my work email account, it makes no sense to me. I had to switch back to my old Outlook. The new one is an electron app. Just a wrapper around the web Outlook, that's absurd. Sorry, I'll keep my old Outlook until it's possible. Also, Outlook for MacOS is FREE!!!!!!!!! What???? Unbelievable.

I'm switching to MailBird this is ridiculous. I paid for my license and now you want to go for the jugular. This used to work fine. You have to have a full license somewhere for this to work at all. If I have multiple internet business where I just need to check email I shouldn't have to pay $191 (through godaddy) a year for each account. I am absolutely not doing that. That's extortion. I'm out.

For those who upgraded from old outlook by pressing "try New Outlook" and now are stuck with the issue cannot log in.

    Revert back to Old Outlook:

run Regedit.exe and go here (or the same with 15.0, if you don't have 16.0):

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Preferences

And in that you will see UseNewOutlook

Set it to 0, which means that running old Outlook actually runs it.

Thanks for posting Martin, that would be awesome for a LOT of people, I hope it sorts out their issues with the emails! I myself will continue to use the existing Outlook as long as it is viable because i prefer/am used to a workflow using the classic UI. I had a sneak preview of the newer version i'm just not up to it right now. Thanks again!

EDIT: I realise now what it means to upgrade my GoDaddy email account so it can be used through the new Outlook and i'm not impressed! I will not pay them as much for the freed use of an email account as i do to Microsoft for the entire Office suite, that's absurd! I doubt it has anything to do with "seamless useability", more like a new agreement between Microsoft and GD to make more money! I may just have to look at taking my domain and email elsewhere if that's the game they wish to play >:(
