New Outlook vs. Outlook in Microsoft 365

Please Please Please MS be clear with your product offerings, you are confusing people. I was looking to purchase a subscription to the new outlook desktop this one

at the bottom of that page is the link to download the windows version. I am reading that 365 is different than the new outlook for windows. So please please provide a link to purchase a subscription to the new outlook for windows. All i see is 365 links and i dont want 365. Is there a paid version of the new outlook for windows (desktop)?

I just downloaded Microsoft 365 and am already thinking I should not have??!! One of the reasons I purchased was hope that my contacts, emails,and calendars in PC, iPhone and iPad would synchronize. Now I discover that the Outlook I just purchased with Microsoft 365 is different that what I already have on my devices?? Contacts are really the things that have not been synchronizing well.

Should I cancel my subscription?

I'm only moderately competent with computers and don't follow half of what people have offered about Outlook!

You need to use outlook.com or an Exchange account to sync calendar and contacts with the devices. If you use pop or imap, you need to use a sync utility, such as gsyncit to sync calendar & contacts with devices. Or, for iOS, use the iCloud add-in with classic outlook.

I've tried to use the new outlook several times and continue reverting back to the classic Outlook within a couple of hours. Primary reason is that the new Outlook is missing several features that I use daily. I used the AbleBits plug in daily because I have repetitive emails, notifications and reminders. AbleBits was more helpful than Quick Parts because I could have pop-up fill in fields which were very helpful. Microsoft and/or AbleBits decided in one of the previous recent upgrades that there would now be a fee. Our budget won't really allow for this and even if it did, I'm not exactly sure if it would work with the new Outlook so I'll be patient. I decided to move over to .oft files and learned that these aren't supported in the new Outlook. Quick Parts is also not supported in the new Outlook Microsoft continues to point me in the direction of their Templates icon which is extremely basic and only useful for small emails. We can't organize, put them in categories or alphabetize. We see the entire text of the template and not just the heading which means someone like me who has approximately 30 templates would be scrolling for days in search of the correct template. I have images and links in many of my templates and guess what, the Templates icon doesn't allow for these to be added either.

Another huge struggle I'm having is the view. I know it's change and I know the view is meant to appear like OWA. For many years OWA has been notoriously horrible unless used for the most basic send and receive emails or checking a calendar. I can appreciate what MS is doing with combining the two worlds of web and desktop, it's just highly unfortunate that they've went the route of copying the OWA features and not the features that their users tend to use.

I've watched some training on the new Outlook and can see how it can be helpful. I would love to try and use it because some of the new features could be helpful. Unfortunately, it will cause me quite a bit more time in my daily work and it's just not worth using or trying to learn it. I cannot and will not speak positively about it to anyone at this time. I honestly believe and feel like if I were to be forced by MS and/or my company, that I would have create my templates in OneNote or Word, copy and paste them into a new email in order to get close to the place I was at previously. In today's tech world, we shouldn't have to do that.
