Outlook crashes when I attempt to attach an email (.msg) to an outgoing email

I updated my computer this morning and now anytime I try and attach an email to an outgoing email, my entire Outlook crashes (before the email attaches and I get a chance to try and send the outgoing email). I've tried restarting Outlook and my computer. I have no problem attaching and sending other types of files. The issue is not limited to one particular email message I'm trying to attach or send -- I've tested the issue, and it has happened with all my tests or various email (.msg) attachments and outgoing emails.

I routinely attach emails from within my Outlook to my outgoing emails in Outlook, by dragging and dropping the email I want to attach to my outgoing email. This is the first time I'm having this issue. I imagine it may have something to do with the update I was forced to run this morning.

Any troubleshooting advice would be much appreciated. Thank you, all!

This fix has worked for my organization with many other bugs so attempted this one as well. No Dice we are still having the issue.

Was able to fix this by reloading the Outlook profile's local app data. Close Outlook, open task manager and make sure OUTLOOK.EXE isn't running or it will prevent you from touching its app data. Go to the affected user's local appdata folder and into the Microsoft folder from there: C:\users\USERNAME\appdata\local\Microsoft. Within that folder rename the "Outlook" folder to something like "Outlook.old" and then relaunch office. It will create a new "Outlook" folder and recreate all of the profile data in there. It's worth noting that it will reload ALL of their mail as if it were a new profile, most users don't mind much, but if there's any problems with that after testing it just kill Outlook again and rename the "Outlook.old" folder back to "Outlook" and it will load the original profile like nothing ever happened. If for some reason you still can't edit the "Outlook" folder even though the OUTLOOK.EXE process has been terminated, kill all other office programs and all instances of OfficeClickToRun.exe and it should let you edit the folder--rare side issue but I've seen it a number of times and figured it was worth noting.

Downgrading worked, and then updating to Version 2402 build 17328.20141 also worked. Thanks to everyone who suggested both options.

We had a user notice this issue last week. Today we updated them from 2402.17328.20068 to 2402.17328.20142 and the issue was resolved. Thank you all!
