Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
After heavily pushing Outlook New its embarrassing that they don't even have basic setting like Name for IMAP users.

The advanced configuration will allow me to specify an SMTP user name but there is no way to configure the IMAP user name being different from the email-address.

Still can not get this to work in Microsoft Outlook Version 1.2024.207.500 (Production). Client Version is 20240209002.12 .
I can get 'New Outlook' to fetch mail from my imap account if i create an account with the address <username>@<mail provider> instead of <mail address>@<mail provider> but then my 'reply to' is set to <username>@<mail provider> replying to this will not go to my email account.
Can not find a way to change the 'reply to' address so no New Outlook for me!

As of November 1st, 2024 - this is still an issue with no workaround. Is this on schedule to be fixed before Windows Mail is EOL'd?
If not - as much as it breaks my heart - I will be forced to use Thunderbird, which implements the IMAP protocol correctly.
Open command prompt (cmd.exe), change directory to where outlook.exe is located (C:\program files\microsoft office\root\office16), run> outlook.exe /manageprofiles
This will bring up the old dialogue for setting up email accounts...
This is really really annoying. All my family email addresses have different IMAP login user names from their actual email addresses - just how the hosting provider sets them up and now we cannot use Outlook as there is now way to actually add these types of accounts. How can Microsoft miss something as obvious as providing a user name box??
Is there any indication when this might be fixed?
Same here, almost a year later. And today they disabled the old Outlook, I can't switch to it anymore, just the new one. Still not fixed. This is the worst piece of garbage from MS since I remember. Switching to another email client.
