Upgrading to new outlook will not accept IMAP accounts

Hi

trying to upgrade but when giving al the information of my IMAP connection the continue button is greyed out.

On another MS forum people are saying IMAP is not enabled yet, is that correct?

Indeed, the new Outlook for Windows does not support IMAP accounts yet. This means that you cannot add your email account from Yahoo!, iCloud, or other providers that use IMAP protocols to the new Outlook app. The new Outlook for Windows currently supports Exchange-backed Microsoft 365 work or school accounts, Outlook.com accounts, and Gmail accounts.

However, there is some good news. The new Outlook for Windows team is working hard to add support for more account types in the future, including IMAP accounts. They have not announced a specific timeline for this feature. You can check their blog posts and release notes for the latest updates on the new Outlook for Windows development.

    Hi 'Squeezy',
    Glad you got it working. When I switched back I stated the reason why in the feedback. Unfortunately the settings/setup I have working in the old Outlook do not get corrected on the new updated version for me, and even if I try to add things manually, I still can't connect to my email accounts. Maybe they're still ironing out problems.

    Hi All,

    This problem has not been resolved yet.

    When I activate the new Outlook it requests for the password of my IMAP account.

    After I enter this it won't work.

    Then I try again, but now I go to the advanced settings. Then I see that it has a wrong server address for my account. This was not the setting I used in the old version, so no clue where Outlook gets this from.

    Changing it to the correct server address doesn't seem to help. Outlook keeps coming with the same mystical generic error:

    Something went wrong...you might need an App Password

    When I then try to add it as a new account, I get a slightly different path but same results:

    For now I can still return to the classical version, that still works.

    Seems it's still work in progress. I gave up last year, then in January it just worked automatically one day. I have tried setting up a second IMAP account not on this pc but that says there is an error, try again later.

    Unfortunately, when new computer comes with New Outlook, there is no other application to use like this.
