Upgrading to new outlook will not accept IMAP accounts

Hi

trying to upgrade but when giving al the information of my IMAP connection the continue button is greyed out.

On another MS forum people are saying IMAP is not enabled yet, is that correct?

Indeed, the new Outlook for Windows does not support IMAP accounts yet. This means that you cannot add your email account from Yahoo!, iCloud, or other providers that use IMAP protocols to the new Outlook app. The new Outlook for Windows currently supports Exchange-backed Microsoft 365 work or school accounts, Outlook.com accounts, and Gmail accounts.

However, there is some good news. The new Outlook for Windows team is working hard to add support for more account types in the future, including IMAP accounts. They have not announced a specific timeline for this feature.     Thanks for letting me know. I think there's a dozen or so posts going now actually. All with the same ghosting or unhelpful responses from Microsoft. They just got fined $21billion for the Microsoft Teams fiasco so I wonder if another class action lawsuit will be forthcoming for all the businesses, including my own, that have been impacted by this deceptive action.

    Forcing users to move to new outlook from mail is inexcusable bullying. This lack of adequate support in new products is emblematic of Microsoft management and organizational incompetence.

    Got switched back to the new outlook today (had stuck with classic for a couple of months) and I was fearful I wasn't going to be able to switch back, but eventually the option appeared on the help menu.

    If Microsoft stop supporting POP, then I have no choice but to switch full time to Thunderbird, as the IMAP settings are incompatible with my hosting company. What a shame.

    Yep. The same happened to me this morning. Suddenly the new Outlook installed itself again. I thought I'd try and add my business email again and nope, it still won't work. My hosting provider has agreed this tactic from Microsoft is dirtier than sewer. A real underhanded move.

    Just be aware that Thunderbird hasn't been supported by Mozilla for years and you cannot export from it either. So once you start using it, you're basically locked in. The only other client I've seen that's safe is Proton Mail but that seems to be built on Thunderbird so the same issue applies.

    Incredimail is malware so avoid this like the plague. That warning is for anyone who may see this comment.

    @Microsoft. You really are pissing off a large number of businesses and individuals with this BS. Just reactivate IMAP without charging us or, I'm certain, you will get a class action law suit against you or another fine from the EU for this dirty tactic. Just like they did for Microsoft Teams.
