trying to upgrade but when giving al the information of my IMAP connection the continue button is greyed out.

On another MS forum people are saying IMAP is not enabled yet, is that correct?

Hey there, my name is Ajibola and I'm excited to help you today!

Indeed, the new Outlook for Windows does not support IMAP accounts yet. This means that you cannot add your email account from Yahoo!, iCloud, or other providers that use IMAP protocols to the new Outlook app. The new Outlook for Windows currently supports Exchange-backed Microsoft 365 work or school accounts, Outlook.com accounts, and Gmail accounts.

However, there is some good news. The new Outlook for Windows team is working hard to add support for more account types in the future, including IMAP accounts. They have not announced a specific timeline for this feature. Still, they have stated that they are listening to user feedback and prioritizing the most requested features https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/getting-started-with-the-new-outlook-for-windows-656bb8d9-5a60-49b2-a98b-ba7822bc7627. You can check their blog posts and release notes for the latest updates on the new Outlook for Windows development.

In the meantime, you can still use the classic Outlook for Windows app to access your IMAP account, or use a web browser to access your email provider's website. You can also switch back and forth between the new and classic Outlook for Windows apps by using the toggle switch at the top-right corner of the window.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to ask. I'm here to help!

I have no experience with personal MS365, but the business apps all work fine.

Currently IMAP accounts are functioning. But since the last update (New Outlook?) the login is not done automatically any more. There is no tick box to keep login data. Is there a solution for this?

Sorry, not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but as I've monitored the comments on this to find out if/when a fix is coming out, it seems to me that people with a 365 Professional account are able to use IMAP and I'm wondering if those of us who are unable to use IMAP are using 365 Personal?

I'm using Microsoft 365 Personal and I still cannot connect my IMAP email account. It just has a really generic error message and has a link to "Troubleshoot". This is the awesome results of the Troubleshooting.

I think Microsoft Support might have even told me a few months ago that it was currently only for the Professional version. TBH, I think I kinda forgot about / dismissed it because I usually assume the person has no idea what they're talking about, especially on this topic, given Microsoft's amazing response to the problem (total sarcasm).

I would just change to Professional but apparently all of my OneDrive folders wouldn't go with me and I have too many Shared OneDrive folders to deal with changing them all to a new account. Pretty sure I recall being told I would have to create a separate account for Professional in order to keep the Personal account that I've had for almost 10 years. So I'd be more than doubling my current monthly rate. While it still pales in comparison to my other SaaS subscription$$$, it's a matter of principal. I feel like this was so botched and has been handled so poorly, I cannot reward Microsoft with another $100/year for their terrible oversight and mismanagement of this situation. I haven't seen a response on here from Microsoft indicating that they have ANY idea what's even going on, their "support" staff haven't been told anything, they haven't issued any formal communications about it, and they probably won't ever fix it because frankly, I don't think they care. Microsoft is too big to be hurt

Thanks for yr post. I had endless problems with getting outlook to handle my imap accounts when msoft upgraded outlook for android, took 2 years to sort (used Google instead, easy set up, no problems) and now this with Outlook and mail for Windows. There's always Thunderbird if MSoft disable old Outlook, but it doesn't say a lot for the outlook team if they can't get imap to work when everyone else can, particularly for those of us who pay them for office 365.
