Upgrading to new outlook will not accept IMAP accounts

Hi

trying to upgrade but when giving al the information of my IMAP connection the continue button is greyed out.

On another MS forum people are saying IMAP is not enabled yet, is that correct?

Indeed, the new Outlook for Windows does not support IMAP accounts yet. This means that you cannot add your email account from Yahoo!, iCloud, or other providers that use IMAP protocols to the new Outlook app. The new Outlook for Windows currently supports Exchange-backed Microsoft 365 work or school accounts, Outlook.com accounts, and Gmail accounts.

However, there is some good news. The new Outlook for Windows team is working hard to add support for more account types in the future, including IMAP accounts. They have not announced a specific timeline for this feature.     It is still not working. Hopefully will work with IMAP in 2024.

    Now the old outlook is loading slowly with sporadic errors, while IMAP won't work on the new Outlook.

    Guess I'm jumping on the Thunderbird train.

    As of now, they're claiming to accept IMAP accounts.

    HOWEVER it's not working, even though I double and triple checked all account info 😡

    One step ahead, two steps backwards it seems. MS and their customer service. Awful.

    After the most recent Windows 11 update, I found several features in Microsoft 365 that had been disabled. All of my document, Excel, and email templates had been moved to a folder under "windows.old" and the "hide system files" option had been turned on (I've always kept it off) so I couldn't see those folders. I had the Outlook icon on my taskbar set to start the old version of Outlook, but the update loaded the new version, instead. The new version won't run my primary email account which is provided by GoDaddy as part of my custom web domain package. I was able to switch back to the old Outlook, but my email templates don't work anymore. They will load, but can't be used to send messages. They appear to choke on a distribution list also maintained in Outlook.

    I can use the old version of Outlook for the time being, but Iam concerned that the old version will be sunsetted at some point and be unavailable, and I won't have ready access to the thousands of email messages, appointments, and contact files I have stored in Outlook. I'm also frustrated by Microsoft's policy to roll out new software without provisioning new help files or guides to use the new "features." Don't change functionality unless it's shown to be an improvement and users can continue to access the resources they have established.
