On another MS forum people are saying IMAP is not enabled yet, is that correct?

Hey there, my name is Ajibola and I'm excited to help you today!

Indeed, the new Outlook for Windows does not support IMAP accounts yet. This means that you cannot add your email account from Yahoo!, iCloud, or other providers that use IMAP protocols to the new Outlook app. The new Outlook for Windows currently supports Exchange-backed Microsoft 365 work or school accounts, Outlook.com accounts, and Gmail accounts.

However, there is some good news. The new Outlook for Windows team is working hard to add support for more account types in the future, including IMAP accounts. They have not announced a specific timeline for this feature. Still, they have stated that they are listening to user feedback and prioritizing the most requested features https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/getting-started-with-the-new-outlook-for-windows-656bb8d9-5a60-49b2-a98b-ba7822bc7627. You can check their blog posts and release notes for the latest updates on the new Outlook for Windows development.

In the meantime, you can still use the classic Outlook for Windows app to access your IMAP account, or use a web browser to access your email provider's website. You can also switch back and forth between the new and classic Outlook for Windows apps by using the toggle switch at the top-right corner of the window.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to ask. I'm here to help!

    I believe it is depended on the used hosting.

    I'm using all2all. Checked with them together but we didn't found anything wrong. Maybe it is one or another setting in windows/microsoft/outlook/ ... I really don't know.

    I just can't receive in outlook, sending is OK. All functions with other e-mail clients as well with the windows mail.

    As my IMAP account works fine in the new Outlook I have just added a 2nd account using IMAP, and that works OK as well. It was just so easy, I gave the email address and then the password, and Microsoft set it up correctly in 2 minutes;

    Much easier than the old Mail program;

    In January one day I started the Mail app on my W10 laptop and to may surprise it closed, and then opened the new Outlook app, and had successfully used my IMAP settings. I had tried before and nothing ever worked but now I use the new Outlook with no problems. I have office 2021 on this PC, I will not pay for Office 365

    Still a mystery why some people have problems and some of us it works OK

    Thanks for yr post. I had endless problems with getting outlook to handle my imap accounts when msoft upgraded outlook for android, took 2 years to sort (used Google instead, easy set up, no problems) and now this with Outlook and mail for Windows. There's always Thunderbird if MSoft disable old Outlook, but it doesn't say a lot for the outlook team if they can't get imap to work when everyone else can, particularly for those of us who pay them for office 365.
