Upgrading to new outlook will not accept IMAP accounts

Hi

trying to upgrade but when giving al the information of my IMAP connection the continue button is greyed out.

On another MS forum people are saying IMAP is not enabled yet, is that correct?

Indeed, the new Outlook for Windows does not support IMAP accounts yet. This means that you cannot add your email account from Yahoo!, iCloud, or other providers that use IMAP protocols to the new Outlook app. The new Outlook for Windows currently supports Exchange-backed Microsoft 365 work or school accounts, Outlook.com accounts, and Gmail accounts.

However, there is some good news. The new Outlook for Windows team is working hard to add support for more account types in the future, including IMAP accounts. They have not announced a specific timeline for this feature.     Oh dear! The saga continues. New outlook has managed, of its own accord, to sign one of my imap accounts in on one old windows 10 machine. Other imap accounts cannot be signed in with the credentials that work on Classic Outlook, nor do they sign in automatically. None of my imap accounts can be signed in on New Outlook on any windows 11 machine. Bizarre and a real time waster, as if an account can be picked up on MS servers using one pc, I'd have thought that it could be picked up using any pc, but seemingly not. Classic Outlook works, hopefully continues to work.

    The configuration was set up automatically. The imap configuration is the same as I enter into classic, hostname identical, port 993, secure connection type SSL/TLS, the SMPT hostname is the same, the port entered is different (465, I need to enter 587 in classic), the connection type is also different (SSL/TLS, I need to enter START/TLS in Classic). It didn't ask for a password, I guess used the one that was there in classic outlook. When I tried sync my other imap account, it said something was wrong; it still rejects the settings that work on Classic, gmail, Thunderbird et al. I'm afraid none of that is likely to be helpful; given it's chosen different settings for the one that now works, I wonder how long it will continue to sync.

    I thought I read Outlook did support IMAP accounts. Hence why I switched back from google. I was able to connect Gmail accounts and a google calebdar. Is that a fluke or is it expected they won’t work correctly? I’m having an issue in new outlook calendar on windows where the categorize option goes not exist. So I can’t categorize by color? Could that be do to the lack of supporting IMAP? Is there someone that is the authoritative source of all functionality that today is and is not supported by the product with the ridiculous name Outlook (new)? And all of office?
