Upgrading to new outlook will not accept IMAP accounts

Hi

trying to upgrade but when giving al the information of my IMAP connection the continue button is greyed out.

On another MS forum people are saying IMAP is not enabled yet, is that correct?

Indeed, the new Outlook for Windows does not support IMAP accounts yet. This means that you cannot add your email account from Yahoo!, iCloud, or other providers that use IMAP protocols to the new Outlook app. The new Outlook for Windows currently supports Exchange-backed Microsoft 365 work or school accounts, Outlook.com accounts, and Gmail accounts.

However, there is some good news. The new Outlook for Windows team is working hard to add support for more account types in the future, including IMAP accounts. They have not announced a specific timeline for this feature.     Security support for Office 2016 and 2019 ends October 14, 2025. Office 2021 support ends October 13, 2026. Support for Office 2024 ends October 9, 2029.

    As stated, the classic is still able to be used and I my self continue to use it. Maybe security updates might be an issue as I don’t think Microsoft is supporting it ? Maybe someone else can confirm this.

    Yes, they said they were doing that months ago. Since microsoft does an update every Tuesday, you would think there would be some improvements.

    I funnel all my emails to outlook(or at least I did) Obviously exchange works fine, but nothing imap. That is a problem. I am looking for a complete alternative to Microsoft 365, both personally and corporately as we spend 1000's with Microsoft and no longer see service. I dont need the cost and the poor corporate response.

    Microsoft 365 which is where I get my outlook from, is not free. Its $129 a year. The point is to somehow get a response from Microsoft, not another user. I have reverted to old outlook and it is giving me "temporary mailbox" status. No worries, I regret posting anything as I realize that the people answering have no impact on the service.
