On another MS forum people are saying IMAP is not enabled yet, is that correct?

Hey there, my name is Ajibola and I'm excited to help you today!

Indeed, the new Outlook for Windows does not support IMAP accounts yet. This means that you cannot add your email account from Yahoo!, iCloud, or other providers that use IMAP protocols to the new Outlook app. The new Outlook for Windows currently supports Exchange-backed Microsoft 365 work or school accounts, Outlook.com accounts, and Gmail accounts.

However, there is some good news. The new Outlook for Windows team is working hard to add support for more account types in the future, including IMAP accounts. They have not announced a specific timeline for this feature. Still, they have stated that they are listening to user feedback and prioritizing the most requested features https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/getting-started-with-the-new-outlook-for-windows-656bb8d9-5a60-49b2-a98b-ba7822bc7627. You can check their blog posts and release notes for the latest updates on the new Outlook for Windows development.

In the meantime, you can still use the classic Outlook for Windows app to access your IMAP account, or use a web browser to access your email provider's website. You can also switch back and forth between the new and classic Outlook for Windows apps by using the toggle switch at the top-right corner of the window.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to ask. I'm here to help!

This isn't like social media mate, you don't need to reply to every comment with the same response. You only need to post it once.

It doesn't work mate. I have confirmed this multiple times with my own domain and other business customer's domains.

Are you aware that EmClient is malware? As is IncrediMail.

Thunderbird is awful but if it ends up being the only option then I will grudgingly use it. But I won't like it.

That's pretty pathetic if they don't support IMAP. They must be a small time provider or they want to read the contents of your emails. Optus in Australia are guilty of doing that.

If it's personal email then Google are the best and, orincally given the circumstances, Microsoft is second. Apple is meh but usable.

I have my own domain for my business and it also does not work on the new Outlook.

    Lawsuit time I reckon.

Absolutely. POP (Plain Old Post) was the antiquated email system that doesn't synchronise over multiple devices. Whereas IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol.) aka Interactive Mail syncs over multiple devices and has little to no security, depending on the ports being used. Ports 110 and 25 have been blacklisted globally for over 20 years now.

You're probably using an iPhone as Apple stupidly ontinued to make POP the default option. IMAP has been the standard for 20 years so always choose IMAP.

IMAP works fine on Apple Mail, Gmail, K9, Thunderbird, Windows Mail and the old Outlook. It's only the new Outlook that has this infuriating issue.
