Receiving email on alias but not able to send any emails - Outlook on the web?

Hey folks,

I've created a couple alias email addresses via Outlook itself (via https://account.live.com/names/Manage) but recently when I try sending an email from any of them it simply does not get sent? I can receive emails on those aliases.

This on Outlook in the browser (not the app), I select the alias I want to send from and it shows in my sent box but it never reaches the recipient. I've tired multiple different recipients and no it is not going to their spam either, double checked that. This used to work, are aliases just broken now? UGH!

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

    I did as suggested in this forum (Send emails from alias in Outlook 365 Web - Microsoft Community) I have ticked the option to "turn on sending from aliases" on Exchange > Settings > Mail Flow > General, as it was not ticked before. At the time it didn't seem to work, but 24h later it was working as expected.

    I also saw this one (Send from alias in Outlook 365 web - Microsoft Community) where they suggest updating "Addresses to send From" but I also cannot see this field when I look at my Outlook Settings > Email > Compose and Reply. Nonetheless, the first one seem to have done the trick for me.

    Ok, there is another "workaround":

    You can create a new alias that is a e.g. "@outlook.com" email address. That email, ending with "@outlook.com" can still be used as alias and send emails.

    That will not solve the problem of existing external email addresses, but it is a small step towards a potential solution (until hopefully Microsoft revokes its decision and enables all aliases again)

    Totally agree. This has been disastrously handled by Microsoft and the workarounds are extreme downgrades. I’m going to start exploring other options as well, and I’ve used Outlook for decades.
