Hello Microsoft Community. I've seen various versions of this bug around and it seems to not be getting resolved. It would be great if others could simulate my use case for this bug and confirm it's not just me - as well as pose a solution or help me get Microsoft to address it! In a nutshell, emails in the New Outlook (PC) will get stuck in 'Drafts' forever in the following scenario (imap emails): I am Replying to or Forwarding an email from my Inbox. If I Archive the original email in my Inbox after finishing my Reply immediately after hitting 'Send'. In other words, if I don't wait 3-5 seconds to ensure it sends first. The email will get STUCK in Drafts and never Send. There's nothing I can do to Send it. I have to go find the original email and retype and send the message. I've given up on Outlook. I've switched to the free version (free because, having paid for Outlook, I'm disinclined to pay again) of emClient, which doesn't have as many bells and whistles but at least works OK. Good luck. Maybe I'll go back to Outlook one day if Microsoft ever gets round to fixing it, but I'm not holding my breath...

I have the same problem, but was able to solve it by using the web version of Outlook as opposed to the desktop version.

I too faced it and seen posts like this going years back. its 2025 and still no solution . The issue likely stem from another issue that I have seen at least dozens of thread here - that drafts are needlessly created to begin with. And as you browse around, you will notice the so called independent advisor giving the same "solutions" down to the exact word for word. It is like the purpose of the website is just to give us the impression of an avenue with no real solution being discussed

How would we go about switching from the desktop version to the web version? What are the implications? How long ago did you switch, without having any drafts issues since the switch? Apologies for the 20 questions, but trying to find a solution to a very frustrating problem.

I only switched to New Outlook within the past month, when I got a new computer, and am having this issue repeatedly. Emails get sent to drafts if I leave off working on them for even a short time, and once they have been in drafts, they just will not send, even when I "edit" them in the normal composition window. I always end up having to copy and paste the content into a new email. That is just not acceptable. I can't believe nothing has been done to fix this, as I see this thread goes back over a year.

I've given up on Outlook. I have the same problem, but was able to solve it by using the web version of Outlook as opposed to the desktop version.
