(New Outlook) Email Stuck in Draft Folder Forever & Not Sending

Hello Microsoft Community. I've seen various versions of this bug around and it seems to not be getting resolved. It would be great if others could simulate my use case for this bug and confirm it's not just me - as well as pose a solution or help me get Microsoft to address it!

In a nutshell, emails in the New Outlook (PC) will get stuck in 'Drafts' forever in the following scenario (imap emails):

  • I am Replying to or Forwarding an email from my Inbox.
  • If I Archive the original email in my Inbox after finishing my Reply immediately after hitting 'Send'. In other words, if I don't wait 3-5 seconds to ensure it sends first.
  • The email will get STUCK in Drafts and never Send. There's nothing I can do to Send it. I have to go find the original email and retype and send the message.

    Same thing happens to me. However, I discovered that the emails remain in drafts only if I do something (delete, archive, move) the original email to which I am replying prior to the email send buffer time. If you allow the email to get through the buffer time before taking an action on the original email, (5 to 10 seconds if you have moved the settings to wait 5 or 10 seconds before sending an email), it will send.

    Clearly other users have this problem too. But from Microsoft itself there's so far been a deafening silence. Which is all the more annoying since they've just increased the annual cost of Microsoft 365 by 50%. I'm not sure how much longer I want to continue paying for a product that doesn't work properly.

    Oh my goodness, thank you! I've seen the same here, and could not understand the cause and what to do about it. Amazing that Microsoft has not fixed this yet, but I'm happy and grateful that you have given me the solution! Thank you.

    I have the same "draft" issue as others , when will this be fixed ?

    This on top of the $50 increase on MS 365 , it's hard not to be angry.
