How can I mount a data file (pst) in new outlook. In the classic version this is doable through the File menu which is not available in new outlook.

I understand your concern regarding mounting a PST file in the new version of Outlook. Unfortunately, the new Outlook for Windows does not currently support direct access to PST files. However, I’ll provide you with alternative steps to achieve your goal:

Import from an External PST File:

• Click on File in the Outlook menu bar.
• Select Open & Export > Import/Export.
• Choose Import from another program or file and click Next.
• Select Outlook Data File (.pst) and click Next.
• Browse to the location of your PST file and select it.
• If the PST file has a password, enter it and click OK.

Use OST Files:

• The new version of Outlook uses a different file format called OST (Outlook Offline Data File) instead of PST.
• OST files serve a similar purpose as PST files and store email messages, contacts, and other data.
• When you connect your Outlook account to an Exchange server, it automatically creates an OST file for offline access.
• You can’t directly create an OST file, but it’s automatically generated when you set up an Exchange account in Outlook.

Provide Feedback:

• Since the new Outlook is still under development, many features are not fully functional.
• If you have suggestions or need specific features, you can provide feedback by selecting Help and choosing Support orFeedback.

In summary, while direct PST file access is not available in the new Outlook, you can import data from an external PST file or work with OST files.

This is not an option.

My PST files are huge. There are mails in there that are very old.

It is easy to back-up as a PST file and not too big for the mail servers.

Importing as OST is not possible.

Just bring back the PST files. That's what your customers want.

This is absolute BS. This person should NOT be a moderator. How are you supposed to access an "external" pst when there is NO file option on the menu. Please cleanup this answer and quit wasting our time. The ONLY way I have found to bring in contents from a pst file is to move those folders into the email account which the new Outlook accesses. I have been able to gain access to those folders with that workaround but there is no way of accessing an external pst file when there is no file option on the menu.

You can now open a .PST in Outlook New, but functionality is still fairly limited:

The problem is that for some users, classic outlook is not working anymore. I can open it, but is impossible to work there, too slow, a lot of messages related with "lack of space",... MS made impossible to work in classic outlook for some users. At least, they could fix the old one in order we can keep using it, but in fact are not doing it. We are only able to work in the new one..without our emails

Every single posting on the subject is a heap of garbage. Microsoft have made OUTLOOK 2016 unusable.

I cannot create an OUTLOOK profile USING my Hotmail email account because now MODERN AUTHENTICATION is been enforce since SEPT 2024.

As for the PST issue. As we all know NEW OUTLOOK is rubbish and O365 as package/suite is also a heap of garbage.

Well for me if I cannot create a OUTLOOK PROFILE in OUTLOOK 2016 to import/attach my PST files then the whole thing for me is garbage from an ENTITY (MICROSOFT) that does not care about there customers/users.

I have both Classic and New installed on my laptop, both run and can run at the same time; I'm not experiencing the errors you mention. would it be possible for you to post the error message(s) you're getting (word for word, please) so we can have a look at them? Thanks!
