Outlook for Android notifications stopped working

Outlook for Android notifications stopped popping up around January 10, 2024. Emails are syncing properly but no notifications are coming up. Calendar and support notifications do show up properly and timely. Also, random email notifications appear from time to time (~1 in 100 emails) without a specific pattern as to why they show up.

Device: Pixel 8 Pro (updated)

App: Outlook (current version)

Account: Personal (Microsoft 365 Personal subscription)

Attempted troubleshooting steps:

  • Checked notification setting and enabled / disabled each notification type in app and in Android settings
  • Tested push notification in app and provided screenshot to mobile support team (most of the time test is successful sometimes it does time out)
  • Cleared storage & cache / deleted account / reinstalled app
  • Restarted device and tested with / without wi-fi
  • Installed Outlook Lite and all notifications are working properly (emails arrive at the same time in both apps but Outlook does not generate a notification)

I have a ticket open with support for about a week now but so far no progress.

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if you found a fix.

    Hi Amanda,

    Thanks for replying. I noticed this problem almost a year ago and like you it started with my not getting Outlook Calendar notifications on my smartwatch. I have tried every suggestion that folks have offered and still have not been successful in resolving the issue including some of the ones you mentioned in your comment. At this point, I'm going to chalk it up to either my company restrictions or Microsoft no longer supporting this feature.

    I have a Galaxy S10E and I realized today that I wasn't getting notifications on my FitBit (had issues with it and just switched to a new device) and then tracked the problem back to the email notifications not coming through on my phone. Calendar notifications work fine. I've checked every notification setting to on, tried both Never Sleep, and unrestricted battery, cleared cache, cleared data (so had to re-sign in and set up my preferences), tried restarting the phone. Nothing get it working. I'm not sure when it started, there was an update May 31, 2025 to the app and it's June 3, 2025 now, I was on vacation right after the update so I really wasn't paying attention, maybe it started with the update. This is super annoying and seems to be a persistent problem.
