Why am I trying to be forced into using Outlook.

First, just so there is no misunderstanding, this is a public user-to-user support forum. We're users helping other users. We do not work for Microsoft and have no input on Microsoft's policies, procedures, or design decisions.

That said, just to clarify something, no one is trying to force you into using any paid version of Outlook. The "new Outlook" is the intended replacement of the Windows 10 / 11 Mail, People, Calendar apps. It is essentially "Outlook on the web" in an app framework with the added functionality of being able to add external IMAP accounts. At some point, the "new Outlook" will completely replace the Windows Mail app but both are free.

no you are mistaken it is a forced product, if you try to go to mail it goes to outlook i dont want to use outlook and yet if i want to use yahoo mail as i have for a very long time then it why does it pop up, out look is still a horrible pice of garbage that's why no on wants it know its forced that makes micro soft garbage in my book

I understand. I've had the stupid "Try the new Outlook" selector switch staring at me at the top right of the Mail app for a while now. I ignored it when it first showed up. Then at a later point in time I thought okay I'll see what this is all about. And I hated it. I switched it back to the regular Mail app but it has a couple times now took over my screen and tried to shove it in my face. Use me! Use Me! it says. To which I reply Noooooooooo!!! Get the &%*$^ away from me. I will not because it sucks! There is nothing wrong with the Mail app. Lol.

See, you misunderstood the complaint. We all understand that we aren't being asked to switch to any paid application. We understand that Microsoft is switching the mail application to Outlook, but THAT is the complaint. Quite a lot of people don't really like Outlook, and aren't thrilled that we're basically being forced to use it. I've always used Microsoft software for as long as I could remember, particularly since my dad used to be a computer programmer, and preferred Microsoft to Apple from the beginning. I enjoy Microsoft 365, and think most of their programs and applications are pretty sound, but have NEVER found much enjoyment using Outlook. I was even required to create an account for Outlook for a college class, which was focused on learning Outlook, and hated every minute of it. I was thrilled when I passed the class, and could delete the software from my computer. I've tried Hotmail and Yahoo, and have always found Yahoo to be a much better set-up. Microsoft is basically trying to force people to use its email software, because it doesn't like the competition, and is apparently delusional about the quality of Outlook. It's not as user friendly as other email servers, and doesn't look as appealing. I like the mail feature on Windows as is, and am actually pretty missed that I'm being forced to switch to Outlook. I'll probably stop checking my email on my computer altogether, and make sure to become very loud to Microsoft about this force. If Outlook were so great, then so many Microsoft users wouldn't use other email servers. Hopefully, the person in charge of this change wakes up, and realizes this forced switch is more likely to lose them customers, rather than gain them money or loyalty.

This is ****. We are essentially being forced to use it. It randomly automatically tries to switch to Outlook, and installs it if I haven't had it installed. Don't lie to us! This is illegal, and in contravention of consumer laws as they pertain to software!
