How to create/save .ics file in New Outlook for Windows

Second missing functionality issue since I started using Outlook new a couple of days ago. The first problem I found is that I cannot rename sub-folders. This second one, not being able to save as an ICS file so I can load into my google calendar is the second.

I understand new versions of products on brand new platforms not having all the old functionality, that will take time. But basic stuff like ICS files in an email app and renaming folders really should be there.

This is an absolutely absurd process.

Please bring back the "attach item" functionality so we can just attach the calendar item.

In my case, I already have an entire email chain going - something came up in this email chain and now I want to attach the calendar item to an email in the middle of an email chain.

This "new" Outlook is not great - but it's in true Microsoft form... release something that's not ready and/or doesn't have full functionality - just to say they released an "update" or "something new".

I agree!! WILD that we need 4 extra steps a NON-Secure gmail/dummy account outside of our 365 network to accomplish .ics saves!!

Hi Mariya, you have to send the event to someone (not yourself) and then save the event. Once you do that you can right-click on the event and you will see the forward button. You will have to forward to your gmail account and then send back to your outlook account to retrieve the .ics file.

This pearson will receive invitation with ICS file attached .

Hey everyone, I figured out what they were trying to explain.

In order to get the .ics file, you need to forward the meeting invitation to another person first. Keep in mind I'm talking about a meeting invitation and not an appointment. These are the steps I followed:

1. Create the event and fill out all the information.
2. Invite somebody to the event. This will change the event from "appointment" to "meeting".

DO NOT INVITE YOURSELF (do not use the same email creating the event).

Any email should work.

3. Once the meeting is created, the option to forward the email will be available in the right-click menu (as shown in the image above).

Forward the event to another email that can be accessed outside of Outlook, such as Gmail.

4. Go to the forwarded invitation on your Gmail account. The .ics file should be attached to the email.

I know this might be too troublesome for many, and I hope the Microsoft team will solve this issue soon.

I think it's ridiculous that we need a WORKAROUND involving four extra steps and a dummy account to accomplish what used to be "file -> save as -> save"
