How to create/save .ics file in New Outlook for Windows

I just read the 6 pages of this thread..., what a horrible reflection on Microsoft - FAIL is the best way to describe it. The Microsoft Outlook team clearly doesn't talk to, or listen to, customers. To clarify the multiple issues here, as it gets muddy reading through it all - and it ALL has to do with the current online version/application of Outlook from the Microsoft Windows App Store that Microsoft wants us all to migrate to (yes, some have found ways to go back to old outlook to solve some issues) To fix this, here is what Microsoft should be prioritizing.

Sometimes it takes a bit of framing with clarity to TELL programmers and software engineers what to do..., in my experience.

FWIW, here's the version of NEW Outlook I am using on Windows 11, and experiencing these issues:

Microsoft Outlook Version: 1.2025.205.100 (Production)

Client Version: 20250206076.09

WebView2 Version: 133.0.3065.69

1. Some are having trouble GENERATING an .ics file to share a meeting/event using NEW Outlook. Product managers, this should be a simple button or menu pick - one-click! since we all do this regularly. This is a Priority ONE bug since it is missing functionality that existed in a previous version of the product you are asking us to migrate away from.
2. Some are having trouble IMPORTING an .ics file to put it on their calendar in the NEW Outlook. This too should be one-click simple - REGARDLESS of where the .ics file comes from, or is located (be it in an email, or on a web page, or sitting on our hard disks, or WHEREVER! One click button. AND it should also DRAG and DROP right onto the calendar and import automagically! This is a Priority ONE bug since it used to work in past version of Outlook, and it affects everyone.
3. Users should be able to ADD to their Calendar directly from ANY browser window or email by right-clicking on a .ics or other Cal event type (including a LINK to one). For example, I register for some webinar or event in a Microsoft EDGE browser window, and the last screen offers the option to add this to my calendar (two options, a Google Cal option, and an Outlook Cal option). I should be able to right-click on EITHER of those, and import the target of the link into my NEW Outlook Calendar. This is a Priority ONE bug since affects EVERYONE using NEW Microsoft Outlook.

I just confirmed that the build of NEW OUTLOOK that I am using still has ALL THREE OF THESE ISSUES.

The code to FIX these three things is pretty damn simple. I just asked AI to generate it for me..., and it looks pretty good. Now, all we need is to have Microsoft use AI, generate the code and integrate that into the next build, and push that out to us. BONUS, It would be nice if they also posted SOME notice to users on how to now use the new feature!! - Not just to this thread, but to All users in some way, since enough people on this thread are pretty upset (dare I say ticked off) and considering going to Apple iOS just because of this.

A little less work on AI and CoPilot..., and a bit more focus on these extraordinary FAILs leaving past functionality that is relied upon out of the current product is in order.

Is it possible to request the feature again or a more easy workaround please?

Just run into this issue today myself and of course its of pressing urgency.

Why would microsoft remove this feature? this is extremely frustrating.

Same issue here, too. Definitely a downgrade not being able to create the .ics file.

I have a large meeting set up and want to forward it to a different email where people can add it to their calendar or not. I don't have a specific distribution list to sent this to, as it is over 200 people. I use the save as icalendar or drag and drop the meeting request into my new email. I reverted back to the old Outlook so I can have this feature back.
