Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
What's the fix?? REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Starting this week, some emails (all of them are sent from internal domain) in Outlook shows yellow envelope icon. Opening and reading this email does not make this icon disappear. The only way to get rid of if it is to reply to the email, then the envelope is replaced with arrow.
Is this some new feature, bug or something is wrong iwth our Exchange server?
This is how it looks like in Outlook:

Thanks for your starting this post and I can know I am not alone.
My organization has the same issue. Only internal emails have this icon.
Dear mik256
Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community.
Based on your description, I know the scenario you met. The yellow envelope icon in Outlook typically indicates that the email message has not been read yet. However, since you mentioned that opening and reading the email does not make the icon disappear, it could be a bug or a glitch in the software. For this, please be kindly to try the suggestions bellowing and check if these can make any difference.
- Repair Office Application: Repair your office application: You can refer to Repair an Office application (microsoft.com) and then check the result.
- Create a new profile according to Create an Outlook profile - Microsoft Support.
- Use SaRa Tool to fix your outlook issue: You can get more detailed information from About the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant.
- Un-install outlook and re-install it.
Hope the suggestions above can help you. If the issue persists, please be kindly to provide me the screenshot about your Outlook version. I will continue to help you based on the information you provide. Your understanding is highly appreciated.
Thanks for your precious time. Have a nice day.
Best Regards,
Katherine
Seriously? It's just a simple question that should have an internally documented simple answer. Your four suggestions are laughable.
This is also happening to all users in my environment after installing the March 2024 security update for Exchange 2019 CU14.
Any update from Microsoft would be appreciated.
Any fix to this issue yet Microsoft??? This has been happening for over a week now.
