I have been deleting unnecessary emails from my outlook client application, but recently observed that the emails are not being deleted from the server. My mailbox is 97% full and it is giving warning that I will not be able to send or receive emails once the mailbox is at 99%.

I am trying to delete emails, but they are keep coming back. I tried deleting emails in several ways, but the emails are not getting deleted.

Please help me in resolving this issue.

    Hi Rama,

I have this issue now with New Outlook in my Personal Account.

I have tried to follow 1. but I can't see Cached Exchange Mode. 2. & 3. have not worked.

I generally "Report" the Junk mail that I receive as it is mostly phishing messages.

Please provide me instructions on how to rectify this issue, which has only started happening in the last few days.

P.S. FYI, I set up a new Outlook email address as an experiment to see how long it would be before it started to receive spam/phishing/junk messages. I haven't used the email anywhere on the Internet, not even to send messages. Within 72 hours, the spam started to arrive. How can this be? Is there a security issue within Microsoft?

Thank you for your support on these issues.

    Hi Rama D,

    Good day.

Hope you are doing well you for posting in Microsoft Community.

To help us narrow down the issue

    1. Check if your Outlook is in Cached Exchange Mode. If it is, try disabling it and then try deleting the emails again.
    2. Check if you have any rules set up in Outlook that might be preventing the emails from being deleted. If you do, try disabling them and then try deleting the emails again.
    3. Try deleting the emails from the Outlook Web App (OWA) instead of the Outlook client application. This will help you determine if the issue is with the client application or the server.

If you are using an Outlook desktop client, please kindly open Outlook in safe mode (Press Windows + R keys > type outlook.exe /safe > click OK) to check a particular situation or result scenario

Please also ask an Office 365 admin to sign in Office 356 admin center, navigate to Exchange admin center > Recipients > Mailbox > choose the affected email account and click Edit > mailbox features > Litigation hold, check if your organization admin enabled Litigation hold on these mailboxes. If Litigation Hold is enabled, the users will be unable to delete emails in their accounts.

I hope this helps let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.

    Best Regards

Why can't I delete my read emails

If you're using NEW Outlook, it is still in Beta and background changes are made without notification.

I got a Microsoft Engineer to access my PC by remote link and he set up my 365 Outlook.

It's stable and is a better Client than New Outlook.
