Hotmail keeps asking for credentials on android phone

I have the Blackberry Hub and associated apps (password keeper, calendar, mail etc.) Installed on my android phone. For the last week when I open mail, I get a pop up asking me to verify my credentials for my hotmail account. It takes me to the account management screen where I have to enter my password. When I do so, I get the same pop up asking for credentials again. However, at certain points during the day, the account works fine and I get mail. This has happened before, but either entering my password worked, or it corrected itself the same day or next. I also have my Gmail and Sympatico email accounts in the Blackberry mail hub, as well as text messages, WhatsApp and Instagram . They all work fine. Since many other ppl have had the same issues with their hotmail account, it's definitely not the Blackberry Hub and Services that are causing the problem. Since you are in the process of transferring Windows mail to Outlook, which will affect hotmail accounts but not gmail etc., I'm wondering if this is the problem. My hotmail account works in Outlook and when I log in on the internet. I don't have a problem switching my hotmail account to Outlook, but I still want it to appear in my Blackberry mail hub.

Hi Kathy. As you can see from other responses, the problem has not been fixed. I'm in the *PII removed* Canada.

EDIT: Removed personally identifiable information (PII) from post.

    Hello Tina,

Thanks for letting us know that the issue still persists.

We would like to ask for few details so we can report it back to our Outlook Team:

    1. May we know what is your current country/region? Please do not provide your complete address.
    2. We would like to ask what devices you are using and is it updated.
    3. What is the error message/code you are getting? Please post a screenshot and conceal your personal information.
    4. What apps or services or site you visited with this error message/code.

We look forward for your response.

    Regards,

    Kathy A.

Kathy these are the screens in order that pop up for my hotmail account. I'm still getting mail randomly and the red screen pops up every time I open my mail app whether I'm getting hotmail or not. I read in another post that you guys had made some changes that likely caused this to happen. I respectfully request you undo the changes, and figure out another way to achieve whatever you were trying to do when you first made the changes. Frankly, this is getting to the point of being beyond annoying. Thank you.

    Hello Lilian,

Thanks for your reply and screenshots.

The last screenshot suggest that you need to try updating your account settings. Have you tried securing your account for two step verification? If you have tried, then you may need to use an App Password for your email setup on your phone. This way you will no longer get the error message about the updating of account credentials. Please go to update settings or visit settings in your Phone and remove then readd your account to see if issue persists.

Also, to make sure you remember, set up two step verification to your account, please make sure to add at least 3 security information. Then, follow the steps here: How to use two-step verification with your Microsoft account - Microsoft Support.

You may generate app password to use as method of authentication to your email account on a mailing application. Please follow the steps here: Using app passwords with apps that don't support two-step verification - Microsoft Support

If the change you mentioned is about the Auth for Exchange, this was implemented to secure the accounts in Exchange set up for verification and to lessen the authentication through password. In this case, we are not the right team to implement such change. Please send feedback to the team, scroll down and look for feedback option - Enable or disable SMTP AUTH in Exchange Online | Microsoft Learn.

    Regards,

    Kathy A.

Hi Kathy. I read all the material you sent me and thanks for that. There are instructions for how to fix the problem if you're using Outlook on a blackberry phone, and for using default email on an android phone.

I'm using the blackberry hub and services app on my android phone for my mail from my ISP and gmail as well as hotmail, calendar, password keeper, notes etc.

I wish to keep using the blackberry app for my mail, etc.

I like the blackberry hub because all of my mail, accounts. texts, WhatsApp, Instagram. Facebook etc are in one place and I don't have keep switching between apps to read things, send messages, texts, connect to Facebook, instgram and WhatsApp notifications.

While I like using outlook on my laptop and tablet, I don't like using it on my phone.

I don't like the screen set up, or the lack of personalization options. I don't like having to switch between accounts to read mail. I don't like the calendar display or the options for changing the display, and either there isn't a monthly view option which is my preferred view, or I can't easily locate it, which if that's the case, does not help with ease of use of outlook on Android phones.

Even if I liked outlook on my phone, I can’t find a way to add texts, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook etc to the app, and if there is a way this also goes to ease of use. Plus I wouldn't add them if it means I have to switch between accounts as is currently the case.

My ISP and Gmail accounts have never given me error messages in my blackberry hub as has happened recently with hotmail and occasionally with hotmail over the last few years.

So, what I really need from you is instructions on how to get hotmail to stop giving me the notifications, and screens I sent you.

I am getting hotmail mail in my blackberry hub but with a time lag, or periods of time where nothing comes through, and then later I get a bunch of mail messages all at once.

If Gmail, ISP mail, texts, WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram etc can all work seamlessly with my blackberry hub, there has to be a way to have hotmail work the same way without a a bunch of hoops to jump through.

I would very much appreciate instructions on how to get hotmail to work with my blackberry hub as it has for many many years.

    Thank you

This is exactly what is happening to me and I have unfortunately deleted the hotmail account in order to add it again hoping it would resolve itself

Now, I can't add the hotmail account at all no matter what I do

It doesn't work with my password or after I enable two step authentication, an app password either

It seems to me to be a Microsoft issue because everything else works on BlackBerry hub
