Hotmail keeps asking for credentials on android phone

I have the Blackberry Hub and associated apps (password keeper, calendar, mail etc.) Installed on my android phone. For the last week when I open mail, I get a pop up asking me to verify my credentials for my hotmail account. It takes me to the account management screen where I have to enter my password. When I do so, I get the same pop up asking for credentials again. However, at certain points during the day, the account works fine and I get mail. This has happened before, but either entering my password worked, or it corrected itself the same day or next. I also have my Gmail and Sympatico email accounts in the Blackberry mail hub, as well as text messages, WhatsApp and Instagram . They all work fine. Since many other ppl have had the same issues with their hotmail account, it's definitely not the Blackberry Hub and Services that are causing the problem. Since you are in the process of transferring Windows mail to Outlook, which will affect hotmail accounts but not gmail etc., I'm wondering if this is the problem. My hotmail account works in Outlook and when I log in on the internet. I don't have a problem switching my hotmail account to Outlook, but I still want it to appear in my Blackberry mail hub.

Lilian, All i can suggest is what i did. Having tried endlessness to correct the Hotmail notification coming up on my Blackberry hub.

If you remove hotmail from BB Hub and add again:

    1. add account

    2)add an email account

3)add email address and click manual setup NOT NEXT

    1. Account type: choose POP3

Install as pop and follow the

    Pop Server name

    Pop port

    Pop encript

    Then it goes to smtp

    And follow same as

    Smtp name

    Smtp port

    Lastly select encript starttls.

If this doesn't work for you. unsure as it worked straight away for me

I also use Blackberry hub for my hotmail accounts. Since early January I am told the password to one or the other account needs updating, but I know it does not because that is, in fact, the current password and I can log into my accounts from my laptop.

My hotmail accounts work at times, and mail eventually gets through (after several hours or a few days) without updating any password, but then it just starts the nonsense for a different hotmail account without my ever doing anything.

Surely if the email comes through sometimes, it should be coming through all the time, because there is nothing wrong with password or the credentials.

Thank goodness I did not delete the account. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to re-add it if it thinks the correct password is still wrong, and after reading all the other emails, that would have been the case.

It cannot be that difficult to fix this, can it? It is incredibly frustrating.

    HI,

I tried but it failed yet again. I've tried everything and I'm fed up with this issue.

The two factor sign-in and app specific generated passwords don't work either

I've literally spent more time on this than working one day!

I'm using my temporary work around and I get everything on the hub that I need except my Hotmail email

I go to outlook for that when I have to

Sucks but I'm resigned to it now

    Hi Kathy

I continue being asked to enter credentials, so I don;t think the issue is solved, although my hotmail does sync on my Android phone.

    Please advise

    Regards

    Martin

As a temporary work around until MS provides a resolution, I made my hotmail calendar in outlook my primary calendar and it populated the BlackBerry calendar with the hotmail events

I did the same with my hotmail contacts (where I store all my contacts) and the BlackBerry contacts were similarly populated

I now have the calender view and the contact list I prefer in BlackBerry hub

So I now use the hub for all texts, social media and work email and outlook only for my hotmail email

This is hopefully a temporary work around since ideally I'd like to use the hub only...especially since I pay for it as a subscription
