Almost 10 months since this was posted and still no updates or replies. When is MS going to be correcting this glaring problem?
Eleni: what has happened regarding this since your last reply? It seems that the community is not getting any response.
Very disappointed in the new outlooks for this and several other reasons, Software updates should always ADD functionality not REMOVE functionality. Can you please explain the rationale behind removing this functionality?
Lots of people here waiting for a reply.....
Add my name to the list of people that absolutely need this function to be added to the new Outlook. Any update on this problem? If this feature has been removed "by design", what is the work around when the old Outlook is gone? How does MS propose to mitigate the issues this will cause for workflow? I need to link to a file folder in my emails multiple times a day. This is and will continue to be a significant issue.
I just realized why they may have deliberately deprecated this functionality: to force organizations to pay subscription fees for cloud storage, which can still be linked with hyperlinks in the new Outlook. Indeed, my organization is transitioning away from hardware servers to cloud storage, so someday this will no longer be an issue. But for now, I'm stuck with old Outlook so my file and folder links can work!
It looks like Microsoft doesn't care to even discuss this issue much less fix it. I have thoroughly enjoyed the new Outlook but may switch back to the old Outlook due to this issue.
Microsoft at least have the curtesy to respond to this thread with an update to show you care about your users!
