I'm currently using the new Outlook, how do I easily insert a horizontal line in an email, now that that feature has been removed the "Insert" menu?

Yes, many of use the "Insert Horizontal Line" function frequently and don't want to have to hunt around for it. Cannot for the life of me figure out why it would have been removed in the first place. The horizontal line function in Word is so poorly executed, that I often draft in Outlook -- using the horizontal line function -- then cut and paste into Word. And then you go and get rid of that function in Outlook. Software companies definitely have trouble handling the old -- and still very true -- maxim: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I figured out how to do it.

Go to Microsoft Word and create the horizontal line there, then copy and paste that line into your outlook signature.

STEP BY STEP: In Word, on the Home tab, select the down arrow next to Borders. Select Borders and Shading. In the dialogue box that pops up onscreen, you can then manipulate the color and thickness of your line too. On the Borders tab of that dialogue box, I clicked on Custom so that my line does not become a full border that wraps around the full document. Also, the width I picked was 4 1/2 pt.

*If you just need a basic black line, you can type out three lower dash lines (this thing _ on your keyboard). You have to use the Shift key to access the bottom dash (this is not it's official name sorry). Click on it 3 times ( ___ ) and hit Enter. That creates an underline in both Word and Outlook.

This is an excellent option for the desktop version of the software. This works perfectly.

However, they still don't have this option available in the web version.

In my attempt to respond to an email this morning (and searching for the same insert horizontal line as everyone else) I went down the same rabbit hole as some of the posters in this thread and found it! Steps listed below.

1. Click Format Text between Options and Review at the top of email window
2. Click ribbon ellipsis ... (far right three dots)
3. Select Borders under Paragraph
4. Arrive at the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow Horizontal Line

Just out of curiosity: do you not have QA? It should be the most elementary task in any refactoring process to find out what the users use and make sure that's provided in the new interface as well.

As a Mac Outlook customer, I would add two more examples of essential functionalities that are not to be found, at least with any reasonable effort:

• Setting the font size – And yes I really do mean that. Being provided a poor, discretionary selection of sizes is simply not setting font size. For example one the most popular recent typefaces Aptos, has a huge difference between 11, 12, 14, 16.
• Changing the language of the text in case auto detect is not doing a good job – And oh yes, if you look at it, the word 'language' cannot be found by looking at the interface in any acceptable time due to it being buried 3 levels down below Edit and Spelling and Grammar.

Please tell me if you some day manage to pull your act together. Shouldn't be overly difficult to find a few hours to this in order to gain some customer acceptance, judging by the amount of resource being poured into implementing Copilot particularly in ways that users will not use and leaving out the most obvious.
