New Teams is keep popping up on screen while users is working on Outlook or other apps

Users are experiencing an issue where the New Teams window keeps appearing unexpectedly while they're working on Outlook or other applications. This problem started on March 19, 2024, in New Zealand.

Despite attempting various solutions like clearing Teams caches, uninstalling and reinstalling the application, disabling Teams on startup, and restarting the device, the problem persists. Reinstalling Teams temporarily resolves the issue, but it reoccurs shortly afterward.

Could suggest any futher troubleshooting?

    I can confirm that unistalling Teams and reinstalling it changes this behavior.

    I used the Autopilot Reset on alaptop that had the issue and it fixed itself on the other side for the user.

    This is a scorthced earth method, and I am looking for an enterprise grade solution that doesn't involve mass registry edits or software reinstalls.

    By deleting the "DefaultIMApp" reg value (temporarily until the error is fixed), the problem can be circumvented (there will be no presence statuses, e.g. in Outlook until then). (Or you can also use the purely web interface ... or you can revert to classic Teams ... if MS allows it).

    (Many of you, don't uninstall Teams because then MS won't have paid beta testers :) ... This error has already happened before ...)

    Get rid of Teams (i.e., Uninstall) until Microsoft can find a fix.

    Temporary fix that worked for us:

    1. Quit all MS Office apps.
    2. Browse to C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Packages
    3. Rename folder MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe to something like MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe.old
    4. Run new Teams, it will recreate new profile so it will take some 30 seconds longer to load than usual.
    5. Run any MS Office app to confirm popup doesn’t occur.

    Have multiple users reporting this issue with ourselves (New Teams and Office 2019). Can replicate by opening any office app when teams is minimized. Have raised a support case with MS on 13th March 2024. It is yet to be assigned to a support agent. Please rectify this asap, it is really cheesing people off.
