New Outlook with multiple accounts

Mail just stopped working. Therefore, I am uninstalling Outlook and going to Thunderbird.

Mail had a plain, simple innterface perfect for the home user. Outlook was great when I had an echange account but I don't need all that extra functionality anymore.

The main feature I need now is a unified inbox!!!

Yeah I guess that's the best solution, but then you have to do that for junk and archives to? Unmanageable with 5 email accounts according to me.

It's funny how the app that is on their own OS is the one that's worst. Like others have said this feature exists on Outlook apps for other OS but not their own.

Seems like it should be an easy fix to. Just add a view that combines all. They've already solved on other platforms!

I found this thread trying to find a way to see all email from all accounts in one inbox like we can in the mobile app, which I still don't see how to do in New Outlook on Windows 11. But to answer the original poster's question, you can add each inbox to your Favorites (and rename them so they're not all called "Inbox" in your favorites list). You'll then see which ones have new mail, and you can click on them to be in that inbox.

Any private person paying a subscription fee for any MSoft service is IMO doing the wrong thing. Corporate customers have available support staff - while private people have a forum - which they do not care about. IMO putting all your eggs in one basket (or in another person's baskets) is asking for trouble. IMO it is best to always buy a single product and then deal with the khrapp MSoft does - like this issue.

I have a 'solution' if this is your situation. Laptop PC with Win10/11 with Outlook Application (in my case Outlook 2016 but probably does not matter) with 1 main account and 5 other separate outlook email accounts. Previously I had the main account in the App as my main 'exchange' account, and all the others connected to the App as POP accounts - with a single unified inbox. Contacts and Calendar only for the main exchange account - which I sync with my Phone. Plus a local pst file for all storage of emails on Laptop and which is backed up to external HDD regularly

So now that MSoft has banned POP connections (some BS about security) I have to connect all the additional email accounts as exchange accounts, which all have their own mail inbox etc., own calendar, and own contacts. Very difficult to manage and a stupid idea - what idiots at MSoft think people only have one email address??

My Solution. Connect all email accounts as Exchange accounts. Go to outlook.com using browser. Go to 'settings', and then 'forwarding and IMAP' (do not scan the QR Code - never do it for anything). You will then have to login to the Outlook Account (same details again of course). You will then be asked for access to the stored passwords on your browser (I have Edge wallet - probably the same for others), so provide MSoft with access password to the browser passwords (modern auth). When that is done you can click to permit forwarding - and then forward that email account to your main email account. Do that individually for all your other separate email accounts. When done, all emails will come into your main exchange account email address and you can reply and compose from them, using whatever email address you wish to use. The default for a new message is the main email address so always check and click the 'arrow head' if needed to change from email account - replies from all secondary email accounts will go from the email being replied to (but always check).

Setting up the 'home page' in Outlook 2016. Using the laptop I click the 'arrow head' next the the second email account in the left side folders, and minimises all the folders for that email account (they should now be unseen). Then click and hold on that email account name and drag it down to the bottom. Do the same for all secondary email accounts in the Outlook App. That leaves me with a single page main account with all its folders (inbox, drafts, sent, etc) and then under that is my private folders for all stored emails (I have them stored in 15 folders), and then under that (which I have to scroll down to see) is all the other email accounts I dont use to send/receive from. Open Calendar and then click to remove (not show) all the other calendars (empty anyway), and do the same with Contacts (also empty) - that gives a single page for them too..

Question-Issue. When you have multiple POP email accounts unified, you need to regularly use the browser to check direct on the outlook.com website - emails tagged as 'junk' by outlook.com are not sent to you when you only have POP connection to the Outlook App. I wonder if they will be shown as 'junk' in the Outlook App when they are connected as exchange accounts??

Overall it is not great - but it works for me. MSoft should offer within their own Applications the ability to have a unified Inbox (and Calendar and Contacts) across multiple exchange accounts. But I aint holding my breath.

There is no apparent way to combine mail accounts in Windows 10 or 11. The capability is capable in Microsoft 365 as evidenced by Outlook on my Macbook Air computer. This situation seems strange since Outlook is fundamentally PC-based.
