Hi,
In the new outlook, I have 6 email accounts. They all transferred in with the transition just fine. However, there does not appear to be a way to know which email accounts have new mail in them other than clicking on each account. And to add injury to insult, when you click on an account, you get another drop down menu.
I am in windows 11 and the 365 subscription version of outlook.
I absolutely need to see at a glance which accounts have new email in them on the main account screen. When an account does have new email, I need to be able to click on that email and have the inbox open with one click and not give me another menu to click through.,
Without these features you are adding a ridiculous amount of time to what should be a two second glance to check emails.
These are not wants, they are absolute needs.
Can anyone help? Or is time to find a new app?

Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management

It is absolutely madding that Outlook on a mac has a unified inbox, but on Windows (your native operating system) Outlook does NOT have a unified inbox. After years and years of asking for this feature, its a sick joke at this point.
I also went over to Thunderbird after struggling with the new outlook for a few months. Thunderbird is very good, in some ways better than MS Outlook, and handles the combined inbox perfectly. A few quirks and a very short learning curve, but I really think I prefer it to the old, better Outlook and its no contest with the new Outlook. Even if MS fixes this issue, I am pretty sure I'm not going back just out of spite for the complete disregard of their customers.
Find a new app.
I just switched to from the "old" to the "new" Outlook and have the same issue as everyone else on this thread.
I have no idea how often or even if these forums are monitored. Best bet may be to let MS know by using the direct feedback option in the "new" outlook.

If you want to see which accounts have new mail just move your INBOXES for each account to the favorites folder on the left pane. I have 4 email accounts I right clicked on the INBOX of each one and selected add to favorites. Then I went to the favorites and selected the ones I wanted to remove and clicked on them and selected remove from favorites. Now for the last 4 months, all 4 INBOXES are in the upper left pane by themselves and have a BLUE number that tells me how many new emails are in the box. I just click on the INBOX in the favorites pane to list them.
