New Outlook with multiple accounts

They're never gonna fix it. Switch to Mailbird; it works great.

These are not wants, they are absolute needs.

Can anyone help? Or is time to find a new app?

I moved to Mozilla Thunderbird.

Handles multiple accounts really well: proper unified folders ie Unified Inbox (a single list of all your inbound emails, with - if you want - a column showing which account), Unified Sent Items etc. Able to view individual accounts too.

Can reply from different account.

Can accept meeting invites into a different account.

Search function v efficient.

It isn't perfect (eg attach files doesn't give shortcut to recents), but A LOT better than so called New Outlook.

Ha ha ha ha. Outlook must be written in Fortran, by programmers from that era. Note enjoy reading this, but the solution at the bottom appears to be re-entering your troubling email accounts.

File -> (upper left to the Account Information page)->Account Settings Dropdown (Ignore that it says you are in an account)->Account Settings... (to the Account Settings dialog) -> Data Files tab.

Under the Name column is a list of all email accounts, Under the Location column is a list of the corresponding .pst or .ost file that email account is to interact with. Each .pst or .ost file seems to have its own inbox. So it appears that choosing the same "Location" .pst or .ost file results in a unified inbox for those email accounts.

Now for the fun part.

Double click on one of the email accounts that outlook is giving you fits over by using a different "Location" than the unified inbox you want -> Outlook Data File Settings dialog opens. There is a browse button, and at sometime in the past it was not greyed out so you could choose a different .pst or .ost file that that email account should interact with (thus email would go to that inbox, a unified inbox then.) But in 365 outlook it is grey. You cannot change it. Hit cancel.

Notice the note on the bottom of the Data Files tab. "To move or copy these files you must first shut down Outlook". Ok. I'll save you some time. Don't bother. But if you are inclined to try follow these directions: close Outlook then go to the control panel and don't look for the Mail icon as many instructions say. In the control panel search (upper right) type in Mail. Search finds "Mail (Microsoft Outlook) (32-bit)". Double click on that (Email Accounts) -> Mail Setup - Outlook -> Email Accounts..,. (brings up the same dialog as above) -> Data Files tab. Now you're in the same place as above, but Outlook is closed. Double click on the email account and the dialog box appears "Your Outlook data file cannot be configured...". Nowhere to go.

I think the only place to establish which .pst or .ost file an email account interacts with is when the account is set up, manually, not using automation. There is more information about these files here. Wish me luck with re-entering by hand all the information needed to set up a new outlook account. Fortunately, Microsoft pays me hourly for the many hours it takes to do this.

PS. These directions are likely good for at least, say, ten minutes.

PPS. Any alternative suggestions to Outlook that manages multiple email accounts would be of interest.

consider the older outlook? evrytime you need it, you need to explain why!

What a waste

Instruction is non relevant for Windows it's weird that Microsoft it's on app does not have the future that they have in Mac OS ios and Android which is unified inbox. The instruction above is for Mac OS.
