Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
Hi Grit,
Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.
Please accept our sincere welcome here at Community Support.
based on your problem description, it seems that the issue comes with the New Outlook setup. We have been receiving issues with the new outlook, since this is a newly released feature and we're still expecting unwanted errors or glitch.
I understand that you’re facing issues with opening settings in the “new” Outlook. Let’s try our best troubleshoot this issue together. If none of these works, you may consider using the Classic version as of the moment.
- Update Office Apps:
- In the Outlook app, click on the Account option in the left sidebar.
- On the right pane, choose Update Options > Update Now.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to update your Office apps.
- Launch Outlook again and check if the settings open without any problems.
- Reset View Settings:
- Sometimes, Outlook fails to open when it can’t load your view settings.
- To reset view settings:
- Close Outlook if it’s open.
- Press
Win + Rto open the Run dialog. - Type
outlook.exe /cleanviewsand hit Enter. - Relaunch Outlook and see if the issue persists.
- Restart Outlook:
- Right-click on the Start button and select Task Manager.
- Look for Microsoft Outlook, select it, and click End task.
- Make sure that Outlook is completely closed.
- Reopen Outlook as you normally would and check if the settings open.
- Start Outlook in Safe Mode:
- Press
Win + Rto open the Run dialog. - Type
outlook.exe /safeand hit Enter. - This will start Outlook in safe mode without any add-ins.
- If it opens successfully, the issue might be related to an add-in.
- You can then disable or update add-ins as needed
- Press
Hope this helps!
Thank you,
Ciarra BD.
