In new outlook, I have mark emails as read as soon as they are opened. They initially show as read but the number of unread emails doesn't always reduce and if I select show all unread emails most of what I have read show as unread again. This is very frustrating as I then have to open all the emails again on my iphone to mark them as read. I also have an issue with deleting emails in New outlook as they still show as available on the server so do not delete on my other devices.

Hi - This fixed mine in the online version. Go to Settings gear top right > Message handling > under Mark as Read section there is a checkbox that says Keep items unread until marked as read. I unchecked that box.
The new outlook is the dumbest mail option out there right now. Revert back to the old. You don't have the same issues.
Same issue on Web app. I set mine to mark read when selected months ago. Now I notice it doesn't do it. So aggravating and terribly unhelpful for professionals in their daily work. Hey, maybe get Big Balls on it!!
