My contacts are gone. I upgraded to the "new" outlook a couple months ago and now realize I have no contacts. I tried looking for a CVS file but I found none. I tried reverting back to Outlook 2019 but still no contacts. Please note, I upgraded from Windows Mail. I never used Outlook 2019.

I use a single computer version of Outlook and this morning, after an apparent update, my Contacts were gone. Mail and Calendar are still there. I switched off the "new" Outlook but still gone. Is there anything I can do to recover them?

This worked for me. Went into Windows Mail/Contacts/Settings/Filter Contacts and found that Recent Contacts was not ticked. Ticked it and my contacts returned. How it got turned off is a mystery as I had never been in this area before. However, this was when I reverted to the 'old' Windows Mail. I have since updated to Outlook without a problem.

Later - I spoke too soon. My contacts did not appear in Outlook when I changed to that. I tried every solution offered by the net but none of them applied to my Tiscali account. In the end I was obliged to revert to the old Mail, write them out by hand, update to Outlook and enter them as New contacts. Total pain.

It is a bit hard to remember what I did exactly, but it came down to:

    • When I opened contact, I only saw favorites . Favorites was empty
    • I removed favorites,
    • boom. All my contacts appeared

An email client with no visible contacts list? Contacts are at the very heart of emails! Never mind a "work in progress", it's an absolute heap of junk - apart from the contacts issue, it's slower to load and over-complicated. Whatever business users might be perceived to need, there are millions of ordinary users who simply do not need an all-singing, all-dancing integrated suite. And to force us to use it, you withdraw support for the old email client.

Shame on you, Microsoft, for expecting your (forced) "customers" to accept a substandard product.
