My contacts are gone. I upgraded to the "new" outlook a couple months ago and now realize I have no contacts. I tried looking for a CVS file but I found none. I tried reverting back to Outlook 2019 but still no contacts. Please note, I upgraded from Windows Mail. I never used Outlook 2019.

I am in the same position. When I go to the old Mail app it automatically redirects me to the New Outlook which does not have my contacts.

How do I get my contacts from the old Mail app?

    Hi Diane

Problem solved. Went into Windows Mail/Contacts/Settings/Filter Contacts and found that Recent Contacts was not ticked. Ticked it and my contacts returned. How it got turned off is a mystery as I had never been in this area before.

    Hi Diane

Similar problem. I tried to switch to the new Outlook from Windows mail but it said it could not do so with my provider @tiscali.co.uk. So I switched back but my Contacts list is empty. However, if I start typing a contact the full email address appears. But in the absence of the list I cannot edit a contact. Adding a new one just gives me a contacts list with that single name in it. Where have they gone and how do I get them back, please?

Hi, I'm Diane and I'm happy to help you today.

Who is your email provider? The only contacts you'll have in the new Outlook at this time are ones in Microsoft accounts, gmail, yahoo, and icloud.

New Outlook doesn't support importing or local cache so you can only use contacts stored in mailboxes.

If you were using Mail before, you need to go back to it to get the contacts.

If you want to switch back and the switch is missing in the title bar, this article has the instructions to revert to Windows mail or Outlook for Windows: https://support.microsoft.com/office/toggling-out-of-the-new-outlook-for-windows-preview-ec102b39-5727-418e-ae1f-a1805434640c

The new Outlook is a work in progress - you can leave feedback and suggestions in the Feedback forum. Or, if a suggestion exists, vote for and comment on it. https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/89a8afa3-2e1c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472
