My contacts are gone. I upgraded to the "new" outlook a couple months ago and now realize I have no contacts. I tried looking for a CVS file but I found none. I tried reverting back to Outlook 2019 but still no contacts. Please note, I upgraded from Windows Mail. I never used Outlook 2019.

EVERYTHING MSFT is a work in progress and NONE are ever finished correctly.

All the BS this has caused people notwithstanding, I'm sure MSFT feels "we take our customers and our products very seriously. You are very important to us". Insert eye-rolling image here.

Personally, I'm trying to find alternatives to MSFT but have further issues since I use certain software for Windows. I thought I was doing a good thing a decade or two ago but....................................

Hope you get your contacts straightened out.

Looked at your solution and I'm afraid it failed to solve my problem. Went to Privacy and security > Contacts and checked Mail & Calendar plus people had access to contacts - went back to Outlook and still no contact list. However - if the first name of the recipient is typed in - the email address appears so the program is obviously accessing the contact list. But clicking on "To" - the contact list does not appear. So I think I'll switch on the old computer and print off our contact list and manually put them in again. This happened several years ago when MS upgraded Outlook; fortunately being Billy No Mates it was a short list to type in again.

Switched back to original outlook and contact list still missing. This is unacceptable; we are old age pensioners and not totally tech savvy. The new outlook binned our contact list and now after switching back the list is still missing. How do we get it back - in simple language please.

    Dear Jean Holder1,

A few weeks ago, I, LostInSpace88, provided a detailed step-by-step reply (with pictures) to this question. You may have missed it, as it's now toward the bottom of page 4 of this thread (or click this link). I'm assuming you're using a computer desktop or laptop. Admittedly, I have no idea how the screens or functions are arranged on a mobile phone.

As I explained there, try checking if Mail and/or Outlook apps have access to your Contacts, which are stored or backed up somewhere on Microsoft's servers--as long as your Microsoft Hotmail/Outlook account remains active.

If that fails, you may have to endure the dreaded call to Customer Support via the Contact Us link below in the footer (or click here)--you will have to log in again and skip the FAQ suggestions. They should be able to recover your Contacts from the server and at least provide the new Outlook with access.

Btw, I'm also a pensioner, former IT consultant, and a (long-suffering) user of Microsoft Hotmail/Mail/Outlook for 25 years, probably longer than many of the Microsoft Outlook Teams (development and support) have even been alive!🤦‍♀️

Hope this helps & good luck*!🤞*

    Cheers,

    LostInSpace88

P.S., I also managed to uninstall the New Mail/Outlook App from my computer😉--which should leave me in peace🙏 until the next (overdue monthly?) Windows upgrade, when, and if, I shall try again to dislodge it. My Calendar, Contacts, and old (offline-capable!) Mail are all running smoothly... for now.😟

Yes. That's standard Microsoft app behavior. It's not supposed to work as expected. Why would you expect that?

Case in point: I have a contact in Desktop Outlook via Exchange server that I had changed their name last week. It appears in the Desktop app as expected. I view that same contact in the Web version of Outlook and lo and behold, it's still under the same name prior to my changing it. SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!
