Sharing from Word to Outlook still opens the old Outlook and not the new one so the emails are not sending.

Have upgraded to the new Outlook.

I used to be able to easily share a word doc or pdf version as an attachment onto email.

It currently still loads up the old outlook when using this feature. i want it to open up the new outlook when using the share feature on word.

Non-sensical, Annoying, Why can't it just open the bloody default email program and send it.

Microsoft Word/Excel. Please meet Microsoft [New] Outlook.

Microsoft Word: Hey there Outlook, please send this document.

[New] Outlook: Hey Word, you old dog, I'm NEW outlook, I can't send your old stuff.

Microsoft Word: But Outlook 2016 did this no problem.

[New] Outlook: Yes, but I'm new and improved NEW outlook. With feedback, emoticons, and some other sexy stuff.

Microsoft Word; But you can't send my document.

[New] Outlook: Not until your [New] Word.

I've just wasted hours trying to find a way for Office programmes to use Outlook (New) rather than 2016! I don't even have 2016 version installed, new latptop this year 2024. Happy with NEW Outlook, I don't want to set up 2 email apps thanks. Word insists on taking me to Outlook 2016 every time I try to share document from within Word.

When doing the long way, it forces me to close down document I'm working on, BEFORE I can share! Why why why is this? This is the age of cloud sharing, but feels like we're in the dark ages. I have given in to pay for Office, and I demand that it is user friendly.

Do you ever listen to real users?

There should be an easy option to tell Word which email app to default to. Why is it telling me to use 2016? When I've got a brand-new laptop with Windows all set up??

I don't accept your suggested solution, waste of my time. We want quick sharing as we work on documents, without having to save and close down - PLEASE.

It really can not be that difficult.

    i have new outlook installed

and all default file extensions are attached to it. But when I click SHARE button in WORD it is trying to install OUTLOOK 2016 !!

    1. Common, it is end of 2024 now! 8 years passed!
    2. I cannot use outlook 2016 because i use Gmail server and stupid 2016 cannot connect to it!

I don't want to waste my time by trying to manually set up POP server for google

I rather stop using office 365 or new outlook all together and go back to simple gmail in the browser

it is shame to release new office 365 and don't have simple Share button working with installed email app

it is even bigger shame to be able to fix it for more than a year after this issue been reported.

    so disappointing, Microsoft!

Any update on this? I had sent important documents to a customer, thought they had sent. When I went to my sent emails, drafts and outbox in the New Outlook, they weren't there. Tried sending again. They didn't send.

This thread explains a lot. I can't access the Old Outlook anymore due to compatibility. This is horrendous.

    MICROSOFT, DO BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
